"Sing Out! Magazine"

With its straightforward emotions, matched to acoustic guitars and fiddles,
Manchester Mornings reachers back to an earlier, more honest brand of
country music. Whether Dave Hawkins is singing about the river rolling on or
the dying embers of love, he's more interested in putting the song across
than making it on CMT. Bravo to him.

"Ian Anderson- Testimony"

Dave Hawkins is a rare find in this world of hyped, derivative and bottom-line-driven music. A musician with a long pedigree in inventive progressive rock, Dave has broadened his work to include many influences from the best of rich musical forms usually found elsewhere in the world.

Along with other enlightened musicians, Dave crosses the boundaries so difficult for our elected politicians and leaders. Music knows no fears - no threats - no reasons to hide from the cultural, religious and national divides which beset our current troubled times.

Just as Western rock music helped in its small way to melt the icy cold war of the '80s, we must count now on people such as Dave Hawkins to further the causes of understanding, tolerance and peace through the musical journey we can all take together.

"The Post- Birmingham England"

"...a gifted Americana artist with his Irish roots showing. Hotel DeVille (considered for Grammy nomination in 4 catagories) is a fertile fusion of Celtic instrumentation and Americana songwriting... as American as apple pie but influenced by Hawkins' deep-rooted Irish heritage." - John Whishaw

"Metronome Magazine- Boston"

"Dave Hawkins is a folkie from the old school that spins his musical tales like a wise old sage. With hints of Celtic traditions and country/western twang threaded throughout his compositions, Hawkins takes on the subjects of love, mighty rivers, children and a folksinger's life with a crafty eye on detail..."

Bio

Folksinger, Songwriter, Recording Artist, Social Activist....
Dave Hawkins has spent more than 25 years performing his special brand of Americana/Folk music throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.
He has more than 13 recordings to his credit and five solo CDs in the past 20 years. His 2002 release, HOTEL DEVILLE was in consideration for 4 Grammy nominations and piqued the interest of those in the music business from Nashville to the UK.
Dave has recorded and performed with some of the finest people in the music world today: Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Sam Bush, Aoife Clancy, Joanie Madden (Cherish the Ladies), Tom Roady, John Whelan and many others.
Musically he has been called a "male Nanci Griffith" and been compared to the likes of Harry Chapin, John Prine and Steve Goodman. These are extremely high compliments that Dave finds "humbling, indeed!" The freelance U.K. journalist John Whishaw described Dave as "...an Americana artist with his Irish roots showing."
In concert Dave enjoys connecting with his audience though song, stories and anecdotes. Whether performing for 2000-plus fans or in a 25-seat coffeehouse, Dave's easy-going style and laid-back delivery always comes through.
Dave's 2005 release, MANCHESTER MORNINGS was recorded at Mountainside Audio Labs, Nashville. The album is produced by Bil VornDick, who has produced/engineered multiple Grammy-winning albums.
With regular touring in the U.S. and Europe, Dave's biggest thrill is fulfilled: "To be able to meet and share my music with as many people as I can."
