Bio

Born in East Berlin, Davis Eisape aka DAVEMAN grew up in Germany and Lagos, Nigeria. In 2001, at the age of 17, he and his Lagos Band “The Lag Boyz” released their first album “Imoshuns”, which was hugely successful in Nigeria. His next release followed in 2004: as a member of the Berlin Hip Hop act “Trikolo” DAVEMAN released a self-titled album as well as the single “Bring You Down.” With his high-speed Ragga and sunny hooklines DAVEMAN brought a distinct Reggae feel to this Hip Hop album. His 2006 EP release “Good Morning Dread” built further on these strengths and turned out a multi-faceted album with international appeal.
DAVEMAN’s strong dedication to social activism took him to Africa in February 2008 as a member of a German cultural delegation headed by the former German Foreign Secretary Frank Walter Steinmeier. There he gave performances in Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso. Back in Germany, DAVEMAN placed second in the SoklingtBerlin musical competition In July 2008.In 2010 he won a compettion of a very big radio station "Radio Eins" and was a finalist of the "International Song Contest Cesme", Türkey, in 2010.
Various TV and Radio shows have invited him to play and also to comment on social, political or cultural topics.

The present album “DAVEMAN” was released in cooperation with producer Uwe Klapdor, whose previous credits include work with many up-and-coming artists participating in Germany’s “Starsearch” and other casting competitions. DAVEMANs album reflects his life between the European and African cultures but although his songs echo various music styles his music always has what DAVEMAN himself calls its “regganized way”. With his catchy songs and the African credo “Do as you feel!” DAVEMAN wants to build bridges where people have built walls. The album’s two bonus tracks “Why Can’t We” and “We Are Family” are a testament to that, originating as they did in the December 2008 project GERMAN REGGAE MEETS HAUSA MUSIC initiated by the Goethe Institute in Kano, Nigeria. Dedicated to the theme “Unity in Diversity” DAVEMAN promotes a greater understanding among nations, collaborating musically with The Hausa, a Nigerian traditional group.

DAVEMAN: „Music is the language of heaven, because it reminds our souls of paradise and can touch our deepest core like nothing else in the world.“
