Dave Mansell is proud to accept nomination for Best Male Performer at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. Show is on October 5th 2005 at the Phoenix Concert Hall. - Hosted By Josie Dye
"Mansell's smooth, worldly-sounding vocals wind around lyrics that are sometimes lamenting, other times celebratory, but usually exude a certain optimism that other musicians seem to sacrifice for their art"
"...listening to this album is like meeting someone for the first time, but already feeling like you can trust him. It's polished without being flashy or artificial, it feels experienced but not unapproachable and it's unassuming, but altogether interesting if you take half a second to get to know it."
- Ian Blechschmidt - Imprint staff

Bio
From the confines of his studio, Mansell spends the bulk of his time working like a mad scientist, creating music in his own rite. Possibly writing lyrics on the back of a utility bill or scrambling to extract a melody he thought of on the subway; often with a coffee on one side and a glass of whisky on the other. Though very social in the outside world, Mansell has a studio personality much more recluse and intense.
After returning from an exhausting tour of Europe in the summer of 2007, Mansell retreated to a lake cottage in Ontario where he finished work on his second album, the more intense and introspective "Vessel", for release in 2008.
Apart from his studio persona, Mansell has a unique stage presence, rich with intensity and connection with his audience, and because of his range and stylistic diversity, his live act is exciting. His style, voice and charisma have earned him comparisons with contemporaries such as Danny Michel, Hawksley Workman and Arcade Fire.
