Bio

KNOWN BY REPUTATION

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, guitarist Dave Paris may not exactly be a
household name, but his musical contributions have been part of national
and international projects, and his reputation as a rising-star guitar
player is spreading quickly.

Whether it’s internet rock radio, a folk program on an AM station in
South Dakota, a new country single garnishing national airplay,
background music pumping up a crowd at a roller derby event, a symphonic
rock Christmas single, or hard rock Christian stations in Europe, These
are but a few places his versatility has been utilized, and his guitar
playing and writing style fit right in.

Dave’s contributions in the recording studio keeps him
“genre-jumping” between artists, studios, and sessions. He’s added
jazz-oriented, rockabilly flavor to an indie demo, then co-wrote,
produced, arranged and laid down arena rock-oriented guitar leads for
inspirational speaker and vocalist Bob Colquhoun. After finishing new-country riffs for rising country artist Mitch Goudy’s release, he tracked electrifying rock solos for Justin Hill’s holiday CD, “Wonder”. Dave’s musical resume also includes southern gospel, acoustic hymn arrangements, as well as guitar-fueled pop for Diana Upton-Hill. All of this is aside from continually writing and recording for his own projects.

Dave’s live resume is equally impressive, making him the go-to
guitarist for many stage opportunities. He’s played in front of a string
orchestra as part of Diana Upton-Hill’s Christmas concert arena series,
and has been called into quieter Sunday morning services and retirement
facilities with his expressive acoustic guitar voicings.

His own band, “The Dave Paris Group,” is a pull-no-punches trio with
musician-oriented modern rock and blues elements. Their arrangements
jump between instrumental hard rock and jamming blues, stripped down
acoustic songs, and female fronted vocal-intensive anthems featuring his
bassist/vocalist/keyboardist/wife Barbe Paris.
Their style contains elements of many different artists including Joe
Satriani, Eric Johnson, Dream Theater, Skillet, Trans-Siberian
Orchestra, Flyleaf, Paul Gilbert, Evanescence and Steve Vai, just to
name a few. In 2010, his band released “Words and Music,”
an EP which landed them international attention via radio stations
worldwide and the internet. This release featured their instrumental
“Greater than Angels,” a hard rock live favorite utilizing the Talkbox
guitar effect. The single release, “Shoes” allowed Barbe to stretch her
soprano-toned pipes over the top of heavy seven-string riffs and a
heart-pounding arrangement. Dave has also released singles via digital
download through iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon, and other outlets, including his single “Chapter and Verse”, which features guitar heavyweight Jeff Scheetz.

With a “pay it forward” attitude, Dave utilizes his education and talent when teaching private lessons or guitar/music workshops and clinics.
Dave’s passion for sharing and interacting with other players brings
him into youth groups, clubs, and festivals to talk shop with up-coming
players and students in an effort to inspire and teach. He is also
actively involved in a local songwriters group and has collaborated with
artists who have performed his contributions at stadium events.
