I am the founder of "Fishstock" - a yearly event that raises money for cystic fibrosis.
currently, my music includes a percussionist who is very influenced by cuban rhythms, and a bass player that is deep into the blues. this gives us a unique sound that is different from the typical strum,strum alternate tuning type stuff. i also perform regularly as a solo act.
the 3 songs i am submitting for consideration in the following order are as follows:
1. Yogi and BooBoo- this is a song i wrote as a tribute to my association w/ local philadelphia musician "waco smith". sadly, waco passed away back in 9/01- a few days prior to 9/11. we played anywhere we could get a gig. he played country, jazz, classical, flamenco, and vintage rock and roll. i backed him up on harmonica. later on he would back me up on guitar on my songs. waco taught me about life as a musician like no other players ever could. hence, the title of the song - yogi and booboo.
2. My Little Buddy- is a song i wrote for a little boy named alex deal. alex has cystic fibrosis. his grandmother and i have been together for many years. alex is like a step grandson to me. it's basically a song about my relationship with him from early on, and how he touches my heart unconditionally. and still does to this day.
3. Abbie- Steal This Song- this is a song i wrote shortly after abbie hoffman died. with me being a true child of the 60's, i delighted in all of abbie's wild antics. while at the time, not fully understanding what was really up. i got to see him speak late in life, and shook his hand.
