Brother To The Wind

Written By: F. David Rogers

Hey there girl, now don’t you cry, dry those teardrops from your eyes
You knew that I’d be leavin’ here someday.
I feel the breeze upon my brow, the wind has changed directions now
It’s time that I was movin’ on my way.

Hear the wind blow through the trees, my name is blowing in that breeze
That’s my brother calling me again,
And when he calls I’ve got to go, it’s always been that way, you know
I’ve always been a brother to the wind.

CHO-
I’m a brother to the wind that blows, and I go where my brother goes
And we will be together ‘til the end.
The restless wind is just like me, it’s always movin’, always free
I love it and I’ll always be a brother to the wind.

Thank you girl, and it’s been fun, but I’ll be leavin’ with the sun
I hear my brother callin’ me again
And when he calls I’ve got to go, it’s always been that way, you know
I’ve always been a brother to the wind.

A Song For Daddy

Written By: F. David Rogers

When I was just a little guy my daddy told me, son
You’re gonna have to learn to walk before you ever run.
I ain’t got much to give you, but I’ll give you what I can
I’ll leave to you my knowledge and the talent in my hands.

Keep a stiff upper lip, son, keep your back to the wall
Keep your wife barefoot and pregnant and don’t tell her nothin’ at all.
And if you’re gonna play the game boy, be sure your know the rules
You can hock your watch and ring son, but never sell your tools.

Never gamble with scared money, don’t bet on the other man’s game
Keep your hands above the table and make the others do the same
And when you get out in the world boy, I don’t care what you do
If it’s honest, then it’s honorable, son make me proud of you.

Well now I’m feelin’ older than I ever have before
My own little baby boys are playing on the floor
And when they get a little older and ask me for advice
I’ll tell ‘em “this is what my dad told me when I was just your size.

Use your brain and not your body, the first blow is half the fight
If you’re wrong son, then apologize, but say so if you’re right.
Don’t put your hands in your pockets, keep your eye on the ball
And If you’re gonna do it, do it right, or don’t do it at all.

I didn’t write this song for money, I just wrote it for my dad
And I never, ever will forget the good times that we had
And if I never have a nickel, I’ll be rich with memories
From the roots of my raisin’ and my dads’ philosophies.

Keep a stiff upper lip, son, keep your back to the wall
Keep your wife barefoot and pregnant and don’t tell her nothin’ at all.
And If you’re gonna play the game boy, be sure you know the rules
You can hock your watch and ring son, but never sell your tools.

Never gamble with scared money, don’t bet on the other man’s game
Keep your hands above the table and make the others do the same
And when you get out in the world boy, I don’t care what you do
If it’s honest, then it’s honorable, son make me proud of you.

If it’s honest then it’s honorable, son make me proud of you.

Hangin' Around

Written By: F. David Rogers

It’s Friday night, it’s two a.m., and I’m getting’ ready for bed
Another night alone with the kids and I’m goin’ out of my head
When you find this note come and wake me up ‘cause we gotta have us a talk
I called your office and they told me that you left at five o’clock.

I’ll admit that I’m not too bright, but I don’t live in the dark
And while it’s true I don’t know where you are, I do know where you aren’t
You aren’t home like you oughta be and you didn’t work overtime
So don’t try that line when you get home, ‘cause it just won’t work this time.

And I don’t know who the bigger fool is
Which one of us is the clown
Is it you for thinkin’ I’m so naive
Or me for hangin’ around.

You been comin’ home late every night for weeks and you tell me that the car broke down
Or you had to work late, or you ran out of gas, or you met an old friend in town
Well you must think that I’m really a fool for believing these things are true
Well you’re a bigger fool than I think you are if you really believe I do.

And I don’t know who the bigger fool is
Which one of us is the clown
Is it you for thinkin’ I’m so naive
Or me for hangin’ around.

And I don’t know who the bigger fool is
Which one of us is the clown
Is it you for thinkin’ I’m so naive
Or me for hangin’ around.
