"the O2 Lounge ROCKED last night!!!"

Saturday night at the O2 Lounge..

Under the new booking management of Jan Jacques, the O2 Lounge is bound to be the hot spot of the Valley every night of the week. Saturday night was a great kick off of that reputation with the booking of a complete all star night of celebrated musicians. The place quickly filled up to the max with some of the finest musicians in California and the crowd waiting to welcome them.

The show started with Southern Voo Doo Band doing a great tribute to southern rocks finest musicians like Molly Hatchet, Outlaws, Lynard Skynard and so forth. Haven't heard that in a long while and as tribute bands go, this is a fresh welcoming of some good old southern rock.

After that set came what most came for.... "Dave Schulz's Living Room." It felt like a living room, intimate concert for friends. Nothing like the big arena's Dave and his buddies are used to. This was cozy, and comfortable, up close and personal, moving, rocking and no less. Featured players were Dave Schulz (Goo Goo Dolls, English Beat, Berlin, Glenn Hughes),Tj Armstrong – bass (After Midnight Project),
Glen Sobel – drums (Tony McAlpine, Gary Hoey, Beautiful Creatures), Jock Ellis Trombone (Frank Zappa, Ray Charles, Canned Heat), Fuzbee Morse-guitar/flute (Peter Gabriel, Lou Reed, the Fuzzbee's, Zappa, Aaron Neville), Kim Shaheen guitar, (Buffalo Springfield, Traffic, America, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Fuzzbees), Todd McCool (Grandville, the McCools).

That much talent all on one stage, proved to be an experience in musical magic that had everyone in the house moving and groovin! Schulz, himself, an energetic frontman who adds to his incredible vocal ranges, keyboards blending the emotions of his personality. Songs varied from different bands but included some funk standards like "Chameleon", "You Sexy Thang" "Thank you for Letting me.." "Shining Star", "What is Hip" to full on rockers like..."Its Only Rock n Roll" in which Schulz made the audience participate with him, to the powerful guitar leads of Fuzzbee in "Comfortably Numb" "Wish you Were Here" to Tom Petty's "Breakdown", "Rocky Mnt Way" with a trombone solo in lieu of the guitar solo, that blew away the audience. There was no shortage of solo riffs of each member to show just how great an assembly of musicians there was. The show was comanding, and no one left till the band did.

So if you now feel like you got left out.. not to worry, you have another chance April 26th to pack the house and feast on this musical treat. Dave Schulz's Living Room will be back and so will his many friends for a great night of music to wiggle by! And dont think you can stand still...it just wont happen! - The Oxgen Lounge

"Dave Schulz Comes Home From Las Vegas"

Dave Schulz (Goo Goo Dolls, English Beat/General Public, The Rembrandts, Glenn Hughes, Fastball, and Bo Diddley) celebrated his birthday in high style by giving an outstanding performance to a packed house at Backstage Café in Beverly Hills. Dave Schulz’s solo career has taken off as he has been fortunate in his new position as Musical Director for ONYX at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in which he also performs his amazing solo artist material in his multi-night weekly residency that has lead him to taking up dual residencies in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. To further celebrate Schulz’s birthday, Punkin Pie organized the “Pink-a-Boos” burlesque dancers that included Nikki, everyone’s favorite Backstage waitress. Next Dave Schulz took the stage with his sensational deep passionate vocals accompanied by his legendary keyboard technique performing with his popular party 70’s cover band Astroglyde.

The party went on into the wee hours of the night that included several special guest artists. Performing with Dave Schulz was Steve de Marchi, his business partner of the past twelve years and a talented musician in his own right. Schulz and de Marchi are busy with their upscale recording studio C.O. Productions and producing when they’re not performing. Will Luke who has won awards on the local scene joined the birthday boy on stage, and Ace (the Fonque Shoppe) dropped in to sing along with Joe Andrioccio (Bret Michaels Band) joining the party. The dancers weren’t the only talented ladies performing; Katja Reickermann (Rod Stewart) came along and shined with her saxophone. Lindsay Vannoy (Elton John, Alice Cooper) enhanced the birthday celebration by joining Schulz in keyboards. Dave Goodstein (Joe Firstman, Ivan Neville) celebrated Schulz’s birthday playing drums and Dave Filice (The Rembrandts, Reeves Gabrels) joined the party on bass along with Clark Souter (Kristine W., Mia Sharp, John Waite, and Kimberly Locke from American Idol) also playing bass. The party wasn’t without talented guitarists which starred Balage (The Fizzies), Kevin Williams (English Beat, Bonedaddies), and Matt Gruber (Engineer for Leanne Rhimes, Osbournes).

Dave Schulz’s party was an event to remember. Thanks to Pie and Backstage Café for hosting the event; fun was had by all, and thanks to Ricci Rocks for coming by with friends to party and take photos. Happy Birthday Dave Schulz, and thanks for inviting All Access Magazine out to celebrate with you in style!

Astroglyde, featuring Dave Schulz (English Beat, Goo Goo Dolls) recently performed three outstanding shows as part of their July residency at Club XES. Astroglyde attracts an A-List crowd, and you never know who will show up at their shows or what surprises there are in store as far as who might drop in to perform. On Astroglyde’s second show on July 20th celebrity actress/model and television host Shannon Malone was in attendance along with the legendary guitar player C. C. DeVille (Poison). DeVille is scheduled to play with Astroglyde at a near future date.

Astroglyde features an incredible All-Star lineup of several touring musicians from various bands such as Goo Goo Dolls, Bo Diddley, Thomas Dolby, Poison, David Bowie, Billy Idol, Macy Gray, Quincy Jones, English Beat, Christina Aguilera, Edgar Winter, Rod Stewart, and the Rembrandts. Steve DeMarchi, who is Dave Schulz’s business partner in C. O. Jones Productions (that’s producing Swank) is also playing in the band, and Phil Solem (Rembrandts) will also be dropping in to play soon. (Solem also co-wrote the theme song for the hit television show “Friends.”)

Astroglyde has previously played at The Key Club, the Roxy, and they have built up quite a following with several appearances at Backstage Café in Beverly Hills. Bio

Music was a part of Dave Schulz’s life from the beginning. Born in Buffalo, NY, his father wore two hats as pianist and conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. His father would seat him in the orchestra pit during performances as early as seven years old. His brother Robert would soon become a Grammy-nominated classical percussionist, and his sister an accomplished rock/soul singer. Shortly after his father’s passing when Dave was 10, he suddenly took an interest in the piano that was sitting idly in the living room. Osmosis? Within six months Dave had mastered the C Sonata by Mozart, and began an obsession with Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and, of all things, DEVO. Not too bad for an 11 year old. He obviously made the right choice. By the age of 17, he was one of the top keyboardists in his hometown, winning multiple awards consistently for seven years. Finally the big break came, when Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls called and left a simple message from sunny LA: “you wanna come out and tour with us for a year?” In a matter of one day Dave went from playing in front of 300 in a local Buffalo bar to playing Woodstock in front of 60000. This led to a two-and-a-half year relationship with the Goo Goo Dolls that took Dave around the world twice as touring keyboardist/vocalist for the “Dizzy Up The Girl” tour, the landmark album that spawned five top ten singles between 98 and 2000. That experience sealed his fate. Where else do you get to open up for the Rolling Stones?

Since then Dave moved to Los Angeles, touring/performing/recording with a diverse array of artists running the musical spectrum: Goo Goo Dolls, Fuel, English Beat, Bran Van 3000, General Public, Berlin, Ryan Cabrera, Bo Diddley, Jihad Jerry and the Evildoers (Jerry Casale from DEVO’s solo project) Glenn Hughes, Bernard Fowler, One Tribe Nation, Phil Upchurch, Meleni, Fastball, The Rembrandts, Carmen and Camille, Hilary Hawn, When In Rome, Mesner, Michael Mccarthy and the Beautiful Fools, Last Conservative, Kristine W., Duke Graham, Daniel Morones, Derek Sholl, and Eric Sardinas. Dave also composes music for various TV and Film projects. In addition to his keyboard skills, Dave was recognized for his vocal and songwriting abilities in 2005 when The Los Angeles Music Awards nominated him for Male Vocalist of the Year. The Los Angeles “All Access Music Awards” also nominated him for both Pop/Rock Keyboardist of the Year and Song of the Year in 2006.

Dave leads a weekly residency at Life On Wilshire in LA every Thursday, showcasing some of the top musicians in the area for a night of pure unadulterated rock, funk and soul, called “Dave’s Living Room,” where the band is set up on the floor interacting with the audience. Dave is also putting the finishing touches on his first solo album to be released in 2008.
