Bio

David Schweizer, aka Davey Rocker, is a native Floridian who, at the age of eleven, started playing guitar and writing songs. In high school, he quickly became a young entertainer fronting several popular bands that circulated throughout the Orlando music scene. He has continued writing, playing and recording his original music in a variety of bands and as a solo artist throughout his adult life. He has written and released 2 solo projects in addition to many other band collaborations. As an original artist, David opened up shows for Jethro Tull and Paul Westerberg of The Replacements, just to name a few. David has been a long time staple in the Orlando music community. Jason Ferguson of the Orlando Weekly stated, “Schweizer is one of the city’s greatest musical assets.”

In 1993 David opened the doors to his recording studio, Richter, and started his own independent record label, Richter Records. Within the walls of his studio, he has worked on over forty full length CD’s ranging from Americana, with Terri Binion featuring Lucinda Williams, Jazz with jazz legend Sam Rivers and numerous other independent projects. David recently engineered and sang on tracks for Jim White’s award winning CD, “Where It Hits You.” In the studio, David engineers and produces music in addition to playing a wide variety of instruments. Although many of these projects are different musically, they all still have that fluid “Richter vibe” that comes from his unique talents and production skills.
Now a father of three, David has set his sights on a new musical and theatrical endeavor titled “Davey Rocker’s Barnyard Jam.” He has written a live puppet musical featuring songs from the Barnyard Jam. He has performed this widely popular show in many theatres and in the Orlando Puppet festival. David is currently co-hosting “Sing a-long with the Muppet Movie” with Heather Henson which is an interactive screening of Jim Henson’s classic film.
David has recently formed a corporate partnership with LA-based producer/director, Carter Mays, entitled Puppetball. This company specializes in the creation of a broad spectrum of media including music videos, social networks, television pilots, and feature films. David will be performing in, and composing the original score for the company's first feature film project entitled "Bad Chicken", was shot in southern California in the summer of 2012.
