Still working on that hot first release.

In the summer of 2004, a young American guitarist named David Garlitz found himself in a Cuban jail, sharing a small-town police station's single cell with a charming french exchange student called CĂŠcile...
The circumstances of this chance encounter form the basis for "Hide the Pocket," a song from Garlitz's 2015 release, "Live in Paris." The 5-song EP is densely packed with snaky grooves and catchy hooks, blending Meters-esque funk with the sophistication of Brazilian popular music and lyrics that, by turns playfuland ironic, give way to moments of startling sincerity.
Not all of the songs delve so deeply into the past. Ten years after the events recounted in "Hide the Pocket," Garlitz is still with CĂŠcile : another track from the recording, the rollicking, blues-inflected "You Gotta Move," was inspired by the birth of their son, Eliot.
"Live in Paris" also marks a musical turning point for Garlitz. After touring for years as a solo act, he found two new partners-in-crime in drummer Karl Jannuska and bassist Matyas Szandai. They began touring as the David Garlitz Trio in June of 2014, when "Live in Paris" was recorded.
The David Garlitz Trio is currently booking tour dates for the end of 2015 and early 2016.
