Bio

Pippin was born in Jacksonville, Florida where he was introduced to rock and roll by his parents at a very early age.  In an interview, he said "I would go to my friends' house and always ask where they kept their sound system.  They usually would point to some small boom box and I would be puzzled.  My father had speakers that were a foot shy of the ceiling.  The whole setup took up an entire wall.  Dad would wake us up around 9:00 a.m. with Led Zeppelin on 10.  The walls would shake and there were times the pictures would fall all over the house, I kid you not.  My Grandfather was a closet blues fan and we would lay in the floor for hours listening to BB King".  Although the love of music was rooted in his entire family, none were musicians.

As a teenager, David was introduced to the guitar by a neighborhood friend.  He began taking lessons from Jacksonville guitar master Rob Scavetto and practiced daily until his fingers bled.  Pippin moved to Georgia when he was 16 and graduated from Newnan High School in 1999.  He moved to Carrollton, Georgia to attend the University of West Georgia as a music major.  While at UWG, he met another student named Zac Brown and played with him until he decided to finish his schooling at the Atlanta Institute of Music.  Along the way he has played with greats such as Artimus Pyle of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Derik St. Holmes of Ted Nudgent.  David's past bands include The Poor Mans Blues Band, Adamson Square and Loud Engine.

In 2007, he founded the blues rock band Mile Train. Mile Train has two albums: I'd Rather Feel Bad and Lifted. David is also the founder and president of an annual music festival known as Little Big Jam, which is held the first weekend of October in Bowdon, Georgia.

In 2012, David began to focus more on his Latin jazz, classical guitar, and flamenco project. His first solo album will be released in the Spring of 2014.

David lives in Carrollton, Georgia with his wife, Grace, and their family. He also teaches guitar, ukulele, banjo, and other lessons at Ballew's Music.
