A passionate singer, gifted pianist and insightful songwriter, David Baron has caught the ear of audiences across the globe with his soaring vocals, confessional lyrics, and powerful piano pop/rock sound.

Biography

The past year has been a banner one for David Baron, a 25-year-old singer-songwriter who is both the lead singer of The Bryan Bros Band Featuring David Baron and a successful solo artist in his own right. After the release of his self-titled debut EP in the fall of 2008, Baron sold out four shows in a row in California. Baron then completed a nationwide tour that included opening slots for Brandi Carlile, Jordin Sparks and Reel Big Fish, as well as headlining performances at notable venues such as Great American Music Hall and Slim's (San Francisco), Mercury Lounge (New York), The Viper Room and Hotel Cafe (LA). In January 2009, 3 tracks on Baron's EP began playing 3 times a day in 470 retail stores across the U.K., just one part of Baron's international airplay that also includes mainstream and satellite radio, TV, and stadiums at sports events.

In between selling out shows across the U.S., Baron has toured internationally with the Bryan Brothers (#1-world ranked Men’s Doubles Tennis Team) as the lead singer of the Bryan Bros Band Featuring David Baron. The Bryans found Baron on YouTube, where they were transfixed by his cover of their favorite song by Dave Matthews Band. In September 2008, they invited Baron play at their Bryan Brothers Foundation Charity gala in Sherman Oaks, CA along with Brandi Carlile, Evan and Jaron, and the Bryans themselves. Shortly thereafter, Baron began traveling with the Bros, playing concerts with the twins at tennis tournaments across the world including Wimbledon and Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day at the US Open.

Baron and the Bryans co-wrote an EP while traveling on the road together, and on September 15th 2009, the Bryan Bros Band Featuring David Baron released their debut EP Let It Rip. The album reached #12 on the New Releases - Pop charts on Amazon.com, and for his work with the Bryans, Baron has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, CBS Early Show, Tennis Channel, and ESPN The Magazine just to name a few.

A native of Plantation, Florida, David Baron graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in sociology in 2007. While at Stanford, Baron was the lead singer and songwriter of The Spins, a San Francisco-based rock group that won Best Music Video in San Francisco in 2006 for the Baron-penned song “Tell Her Something”. Baron continues to reside in San Francisco. For more information, visit http://www.davidbaronmusic.com.

- Stell Patsiokas, Executive Vice President, XM/Sirius Satellite Radio

“I really love David’s pop sensibility and the hooks I’ve heard are great…I’m officially a fan!”
- Jayn, Music Director, Alice 97.3 San Francisco

“We receive literally hundreds of CDs from emerging artists each week, and it’s rare to find one as developed and impressive as David Baron’s. We will begin airing him on our Unsigned Channel shortly, and I would be surprised if he remained ‘Unsigned’ for very long. David demonstrates a technical excellence balanced with a mature approach to song construction and attitude that are among the key foundations of successful music. We’ll be watching his growth as an artist carefully and with high hopes.”
- Lee Abrams, Chief Programming Officer, XM Satellite Radio

“Great stuff, I gotta say, tons of commercial potential indeed…I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see David breakthrough someday.”
- Aaron Axelsen, Music Director, LIVE 105 San Francisco

“The refreshing piano driven pop rock tunes emerging from singer-songwriter David Baron have been gaining popularity, and this comes as no suprise given the high degree of passion David puts into his music. The Florida native musician writes songs that are uplifting, powerful, and have the ability to put listeners in a good mood. If you’re a fan of music from big league entertainers like Billy Joel, Ryan Adams, and Elton John, allow yourself the opportunity to listen to David Baron’s recordings. I’m quite confident saying you will not be disappointed.”

Love Is Just A Lie

Love Is Just A Lie
Words and Music by David Baron

Lyrics:

I was leaning on the corner of the bar
There was beer spilling on my shoes
When I saw her standing there and thought I got nothing to lose
I started walking when I see a sketchy dude
Walking to her with the same idea
So I turn around and order up another beer

Now I’m watching their exchange
And thinking how they’re all the same
The girl looks anxious as he tries in vain to change her mind

Love is just a lie
Something the girls tell each other so that they sleep better at night
Even the worst get a taste if you play your cards right
Cause love is just a lie

You were crying on the corner of my bed when your lover had just run off
You were getting over him and I was just getting off
I leaned over and I whispered in your ear
You know it would feel so good
Your heart was broken so I had my way with damaged goods

You were on your way to something real and nothing came
And when you found out what you couldn’t get
You settled for me instead

Love is just a lie
Something the girls tell each other so that they sleep better at night
Even the worst get a taste if you play your cards right
Love is just a lie
I’m in a pack of wolves looking for another deer caught in the headlights
Am I a notch on your belt or your shining knight?
Cause love is just a lie
Love is just a lie

Standing Still

Written By: David Baron

Standing Still
Words and music by David Baron

Lyrics:

So you tell me everything will be all right
When I lost my legs and in my head I’m drowning
But can you tell me that I’m going to win this fight
When I’m not so sure I have the cure inside of me

Distance kills us when it’s within us
All my friends in all our stories
Oh my god how we worry now
That we’ll never work it out

I’m feeling lost and a little lonely
I think I need love but who am I kidding
I better get a grip on myself before I give a little bit to somebody else
And I’m so tired of standing still
When my mind’s like it’s running on a wheel
I feel a little lost and not myself
So I guess I better be with somebody else tonight

If you see me on the streets out late at night
In the parking lots or the crowded spots on Sutter Street
Will you walk with me to the closest neon sign
Have a drink or two till we get through the barriers we been hiding

Cause distance kills us when it’s within us
And all my friends in all our stories
Oh my god how we worry now
That we’ll never work it out

I’m feeling lost and a little lonely
I think I need love but who am I kidding
I better get a grip on myself before I give a little bit to somebody else
And I’m so tired of standing still
When my mind’s like it’s running on a wheel
I feel a little lost and not myself
So I guess I better be with somebody else tonight

I feel a little lost
I feel a little lost
I feel a little lost
I feel a little lost

Kids

Written By: David Baron

Kids
Words and music by David Baron

Lyrics:

I wanna be a kid again
I wanna walk with friends
I wanna live without a care in the world
I wanna live without my fears and my doubts
Will you hold my hand?
I wanna be a kid again

Oh to be a kid again
You try hard to fit in
You fail and lose your innocence
I was afraid of heights
And I tried with all my might
To grow up as fast as I can
I wanna be a kid again

Then sometimes I think back on the days when I ran and cried
The days when my hands were tied
The ways I escaped
Fell so hard on my face almost lead me to suicide
And now there’s nowhere to hide
It’s only a game

I wanna live without my fears and my doubts
Like a child safe and warm
I wanna be a kid back in my mother’s arms
I wanna be a kid again
I wanna be a kid again

Shadows On The Inside

Written By: David Baron

Shadows On The Inside
Words and music by David Baron

Lyrics:

Shelly I’ve been thinking about you
When I’m alone in my room just staring at the wall
Shelly I’ve been thinking about you
How cutting yourself is leaving a mark on us all
Shelly I was worried about you
How you were drinking away your thoughts till they all disappeared

Shadows on the inside
Were coming alive
Shadows on the inside
Came to you that night

Shelly I’ve been thinking about you
You were probably alone in your room just staring at the wall
Today Shelly we crowded around you
Outside in the garden covered with leaves from the fall
Shelly I’m lost here without you
It weighs so heavy on my heart now that you’re gone
Shelly I wish I could hold you
To tell you I know deep down how it feels all alone in the dark

Shadows on the inside
Are coming alive
Shadows on the inside
Are coming alive
Where do we go after the snow falls and we’re wrong?
I miss you so and I just don’t know if I can hold on
Cause shadows on the inside
They came and took your life
Shadows on the inside came to me tonight

Nothing To Fear

Written By: David Baron

Nothing To Fear
Words and music by David Baron

Lyrics:

I never knew what I was doing when I worked down at Central Park
I just kept the meter running till the boss left after dark
I been feeling like putty that you play with in the palm of your hand
I let you roll me all over and sculpt me into your idea of a man

And the bars they’re all closed at 2 a.m. across this town
That’s about the time I call you when I want you around

I been a little uptight in the meanest way
And I been working all night to push you away
But I’m ready
Yeah I’m ready
I kinda thought of myself as someone scared
I’m never acting on a moment till I’m prepared
But I’m ready
Yeah I’m ready
I got nothing to fear I’m on my way
Nothing to fear I’m on my way
Nothing to fear I’m on my way
Nothing to fear I’m on my way

I was a runner on the racetrack thinking I could do it alone
I was a little child crying I don’t need anyone
I was a man obsessed with being the best in line
Just worried everybody’s in a hurry to leave me behind

So when you asked me do I want you and I barely made a sound
It was because I thought you’d leave me all alone on the ground

I been a little uptight in the meanest way
And I been working all night to push you away
But I’m ready
Yeah I’m ready
I kinda thought of myself as someone scared
I’m never acting on a moment till I’m prepared
But I’m ready
Yeah I’m ready
I got nothing to fear I’m on my way
Nothing to fear I’m on my way
Nothing to fear I’m on my way
Nothing to fear I’m on my way

Say You

Written By: David Baron

Say You
Words and music by David Baron

Lyrics:

Mama puts her baby boy to sleep
He says he’s so scared of the things he can’t see
And she kisses his head and she says
There ain’t nothing wrong with that
Oh mama, promise me that

I never once heard you complain
And I remember the day when the call finally came
You had both your eyes closed like an angel
I stayed there the whole night through
I’m still there right next to you

You said
Say you’ll be right by my side
Say you’ll be there when I turn out the light
Cause I need you to hold me when I’m in the dark
To be in my heart

Did you know not a day goes by
When I try as hard as I can
Because you gave me the strength to be the man that I am

So say you’ll be right by my side
Say you’ll be there when I turn out the light
Cause I need you to hold me when I’m in the dark
To be in my heart

Say you’ll be right by my side
Say you’ll be there when I turn out the light
Cause I need you to hold me when I’m in the dark
To be in my heart

Chasing The Sun

Written By: B. Bryan, M. Bryan, D. Baron

Chasing The Sun

I can’t be where you want me to be
Till this fire burns out I will set out across the sea
I can’t go where you want me to go
I belong here on this journey
And I want you to know
That I won’t let you go

I’m chasing the sun
Here it comes
Chasing the sun
Bound for glory
Chasing the sun
Honey how fast can I run
Till this war is won
In my mind you know I’m chasing the sun

Though I go where few others have gone
I won’t sell my soul to walk this path that I’m on
But here I stand just a shell of a man
Cause I have done my best to keep you
And you just slip away
Is that the price I must pay?

For chasing the sun
Here it comes
Chasing the sun
Bound for glory
Chasing the sun
Honey how fast can I run
Till this war is won
In my mind you know I’m chasing the sun

The leaves they fall in London town
Just like the rain in Barcelona
I left behind me all this peace I found
And I want you to know
That I won’t ever let you go

I’m chasing the sun
Here it comes
Chasing the sun
Bound for glory
Chasing the sun
Honey how fast can I run
Till this war is won
Until I come home back to you
And do all the things you want me to
Honey it’s always on my mind
Rain or shine you know
I’m chasing the sun

Spending My Days

Written By: B. Bryan, M. Bryan, D. Baron, R. Cordial

Spending My Days

I left home at seventeen
I left home I left everything
The sky was high and the stars were bright
I met you on a lonely night
I held your hand and you held mine back
I kissed your lips and you kissed mine back
And it meant everything

Now I’m spending my days
Thinking about you girl
And when I close my eyes
I dream about you girl
Yeah I’m spending my days
Thinking about you girl
You know it’s so hard, so hard, so hard
Without you girl

I woke up with you in my arms
In my heart was a lonely song
I didn’t wanna leave at 3 a.m.
I didn’t wanna leave at 5 a.m.
Same story about 7 a.m.
But I had to go out on my own
That’s when I lost everything

Now I’m spending my days
Thinking about you girl
And when I close my eyes
I dream about you girl
Yeah I’m spending my days
Thinking about you girl
You know it’s so hard, so hard, so hard
Without you girl

I should have stayed by your side
Oh I should never have walked away
Now all that’s on my mind is how I’m spending my days

Now I’m spending my days
Thinking about you girl
And when I close my eyes
I dream about you girl
Yeah I’m spending my days
Thinking about you girl
You know it’s so hard, so hard, so hard
Without you girl

Let It Rip

Written By: B. Bryan, M. Bryan, D. Baron

Let It Rip

I don’t know where I’m going
I don’t know where I’ve been
But sure as the wind that’s blowin’
I’m back on the road once again

I feel the heat from the sunshine
I hear the roar of the crowd
But when I wipe the sweat from my eyes
I see that you’re not around

I need you near me
And I gotta be stronger now and

Let it rip
I can’t be broken again
Let it rip
I’ve got to hold on now
Let it rip
I waited my whole life for this
Let it rip
And I won’t be pushed around
Let it rip

I know I’m one in a million
And the glory was meant for the few
But somewhere there’s one in a million
Who came out on top
So there ain’t no excuse

I need you near me
And I gotta be stronger now and

Let it rip
I can’t be broken again
Let it rip
I’ve got to hold on now
Let it rip
I waited my whole life for this
Let it rip
And I won’t be pushed around
Let it rip

Let it rip
Let it rip
Let it rip
Let it rip

I don’t know where I’m going
I don’t know where I’ve been
But I’m gonna keep on fighting
Till I’m in your arms again
