Bio

Born in New Jersey, moved to Lower East Side section of New York City in mid 80's. Played in a few CBGB type bands while working at the west 8th st. playhouse in Grenwich Village. Also a member of The Squatters Coalition and was squatter the majarity of his time in NYC. Played and recorded with hippie/punk David Peel on Orange Records and spent a lot of time as a "street musician" in and around Washington and Tompkin's Sqare park. Answered an add in the newspaper for lead singer into "Converse sneakers and beer" band later became Godspeed. Within six months major labels were interested. Godspeed had a reputation of roudy shows. Blanche and founding member Tommy Southard would bleed at a lot of their shows. Atlantic Records did sign the band and gave them a tour through Europe with legends Black Sabbath to support their debut CD "Ride".After a tour with Dio through the states and another with fellow new commers Sugartooth the band broke up. David Blanche went on hiatus and started a family. Two years later he started Dirty Johnny and went through several line ups and two cd's over four years time. After another vacation from a discouraging music scene and getting a pilots license and a bigger family David was back. Blanche started writing again. Staggerwigg was something that many people have trouble identifying a genre for. The first and only cd which is on an indie label that refused to get David a distribution deal or at least tried but didn't want to put the money into an artist that has nothing but promice. Number one on some local NJ and NY end of the years top ten of 2005. David Blanche is not at a standstill , he continues to write and perform with acoustic guitar in hand and has embraced the recent singer/songwriter trip that is making good today. He also continues to share his songs with movies, video games and other artists.
