David Bowling

DAVID BOWLING Making it in the music industry requires a diverse palette of skills and David Bowling is indeed a man of many hats. The singer/ songwriter/ performer/ producer/ audio engineer has been working in professional ranks since 2002 following a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/Television Broadcasting. Since then, the ASCAP member has teamed up with a wide variety of projects, from his recurring role as an Audio Production Editor for Chicagos Carma Productions to a wide variety of production, touring, recording and songwriting experiences. Amongst the lengthy list of credits is time studying under and collaborating with Lou Carlozo, owner of Carma Productions and producer of many windy city artists including Ellen Rosner. As a result, Bowling has earned an assistant production credit with troubadour Robin Randle on record, plus performances alongside the likes of Larry Beers (Sonia Dada), Joe Sonnefeldt (acclaimed jazz vibraphone player), Ellen Miller (noted blues harmonica player) and Josie Aiello (a rising R&B artist whom he backed for a year as rhythm guitarist). He also played drums on The Krunchies "Charlie Don't Surf for The Sandanista Cure Cover Tribute Album (which also includes The Smithereens, Katrina of Katrina and the Waves fame and Camper Van Beethoven). Prior to all this switch hitting, he toured on the road crew with classic rock mainstays Kevin Chalfant & The Storm (the first artist signed to Interscope Records known for the Billboard hits Ive Got a Lot To Learn About Love and Show Me the Way) including dates with Survivor/Ides of March member Jim Peterik and the Gregg Rolie Band (of Journey/Santana fame). Even with this wealth of experience, a continued waiting list of projects to take on and preparation for his solo debut disc Colours of Addiction, Bowling insists on a down to earth demeanor that keeps him grounded in all aspects of the music business. One thing I've learned in my observance of other people's attitudes in this business is that most tend to be very immature on their outlook, he says. There are many performers and bands who view this medium as a place to get rich quick and blow their fame away on sex, drugs and egos that grow too far out of hand. From this I've learned and tend to treat the music business as BUSINESS, and always view it as such. Some prefer to trade stocks as a means to build their wealth. I take the same business concepts and apply them to the music/entertainment field, while balancing the desire to create art thats true to my soul.
