"Spencer Harrington on Dave's True Story"

"The edgy genius of Dave's true Story - the trio of guitarist-songwriter David Cantor, vocalist Kelly Flint, and bassist Jeff Eyrich - is in its ability to fuse the vibe of jazz from the 1940s and 50s with a modernist lyric sensibility: witty, urbane, and anxiety-ridden... jazz songwriting for a new generation." Spencer Harrington - Jazziz - Jazziz

"Neil Tesser on Dave's True Story"

"DTS offers art songs for a new century, spiced with jazz and neon details, and I can't wait for more" - Neil Tesser--Playboy Magazine - Playboy Magazine

"Jim Fusilli"

"...Harry Connick, Jr. and John Pizzarelli should have new material that is as witty as what Mr. Cantor creates." Jim Fusilli - Wall Street Journal - Wall Street Journal

"Jim Allen on David Cantor"

"A songwriter whose name belongs in the pantheon of greats like Randy Newman, Donald Fagen and Lyle Lovett." Jim Allen - Muze - Muze

"Terry Teachout on Dave's True Story"

"Kelly Flint and David Cantor's act is hard to pigeonhole; imagine a weird and wonderful cross of Steely Dan and Stephen Sondheim." Terry Teachout - The New York Times - New York Times

"Dane McCauley on Dave's True Story"

"It's been said, 'You're born. You die.' If you're lucky, you learn to walk upright, keep the Devil interested but waiting, and gasp in wonderment at Dave's True Story's new album, Nature." Dane McCauley - Chronogram - Chronogram

"Billboard on Dave's True Story"

"New York hipsters DAVE'S TRUE STORY mix it up with smoldering grooves and cheeky beatnik lyrics..." Billboard - Billboard

David Cantor was the guitarist and songwriter for the group Dave's True Story from the early 90s through well into the current century. David is now performing as a front man for the groups Alien Hand and The Adequate Gods. He has also recently begun composing music for a musical in collaboration with librettist Brian Crawley and director Mark Brokaw. The music samples are very rough home demos, but should give you a good idea of what it will sound like with a full band. As a songwriter, David has a large catalogue of songs he would love to hear other performers do. If you are a band or singer looking for new stuff, drop a line here or at alienhand@mac.com. You can hear more of David's songs at the Dave's True Story website: www.davestruestory.com
