SOOTHING MUSIC FOR ANXIOUS TIMES
David Cellars’ debut CD mixes New Age and smooth Jazz. “Soothing music
for anxious times” was the goal for composer and pianist David Cellars in putting
together his debut CD. The CD “...and the Earth,” from the Whisper Loud Music
Label, features Cellars’ original piano solos ranging from New Age to Classical,
Jazz to Blues. Play this CD at home or in the office and more sunlight may flow
through your windows. Play it in your car and rush hour traffic may seem less
frustrating. You don’t have to wait until you open your favorite bottle of wine to
listen to it. The songs “Morning Sun,” “Treasures,” and “Falcon On A Street
Light” have touches of Brazilian rhythms. David’s wife, Janete, is from Cear<,
Brazil, and their frequent trips to visit her family inspired the South American
flavor. “Catalina Way,” “Piano Essay,” and “Wealthy Moon” are improvisations
recorded in single takes. “Penniless” is a happy-go-lucky blues piano piece. All
the songs have a piano tone that sings and soars, sometimes intermixed with big,
colorful chords. The CD ends with a beautiful lullaby entitled “Lullaby to
Remember You.”
“Music is a passion for me, a reflection of the many emotions of living in
today’s world,” says David Cellars. The St. Louis native now makes his home in the
Kansas City area. Cellars has spent his career performing, composing, and
teaching. He’s written commercial jingles and backed up other artists on CD
projects. Cellars is also a graduate of the UMKC Conservatory of Music with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. His debut CD draws influences from his
music mentors John Elliott, Herb Drury, and Thomas B. Dole and his love of
classical and jazz music. Currently playing around the Kansas City Area,
Cellars frequently travels to St. Louis, Chicago, New York and Brazil.

DAVID CELLARS’ DEBUT CD

“We played it over and over and fell in love with the music.”

JoAnn and Chip Piehl Phoenix, AZ

“I absolutely love listening to exactly this kind of piano music.
Jim Brickman has been my favorite but I think David Cellars has just pushed him to the number 2 spot.”

Mike Wilson Springfield, MO

“After listening to the CD for the 3rd time, I like the following for the complex jazzy chord surprises... #5, Colossal Rose and #7, ... and the Earth Pays and #13 Penniless. I thought # 10, Happiness in Motion was the most pleasant and relaxing. The rhythm and rising/falling chords of #11, Wheeler were awesome... this needs to be in a movie!”
