Bio

With the constant monotony and lack of creativity in music today, it’s hard to tell one song from the next, not to mention the artists themselves. It seems nowadays if you can hold a note, you’re next in line to become this year’s American Idol. In a sea of one hit wonders who congest our air waves with no originality, it’s good to see a breath of fresh air has finally arrived. A 24-year-old Jamaican, David Chin , has merged the sounds of R&B soul with urban hip-hop and reggae rhythms to create a style that is unlike any other. Due to such a diverse background, David has combined cultures to create music and possess what most artists lack today: versatility.
Brought up on old school soul and funk classics, David was instilled with the spirit of music. Crowds would form at family gatherings whenever he danced and sang. Many pop culture icons ranging from the likes of Prince to Michael Jackson have accelerated his drive for music but none more than his very own father, musician, and famed radio personality Wayne Chin from the Jamaican radio station RJR. At a very young age David was privileged to tour throughout the U.S. with his father, a member of the world-renowned reggae metal group Chinafrica. He got his first fifteen minutes of fame when his father brought him up on stage and handed him the microphone. Captivating the audience, David was a natural, and at that moment a star was born.

Originally from the borough that started hip-hop, The Bronx, NYC, Chin has perfected his vocal skills in school choirs and talent shows from New York to Atlanta. Still, first place wasn’t enough for an aspiring musician who had set his sights on a bigger goal. At the age of nineteen, David dreamt of establishing his own Atlanta-based production company, which would feature a wide array of talent from all corners of musical genre. Partnered with Andrew “RedRum” Ramirez, David saw his dream through to a reality. He is not only responsible for the production of the artists on his label, but some song writing and vocal guest appearances as well.
Just recently, he has ventured to California to collaborate and cameo in videos with reggae legends Spragga Benz and Ky-mani Marley. Even with the duties that come with running his label, David still finds time to do freelance work here and there, producing music for his gospel mates and various local acts. David doesn’t just believe in his talents, but in the talents of others and will go to great lengths to see that it doesn’t go to waste. The sounds of GimmeDat Muzic have reached the dance floor of local clubs to worldwide websites where listeners have, and continue to, download his music and purchase his CD’s.
