Bio

David Dub is a recording artist. Not only does he possess an incomparable voice with a five octave range, but he also co-produces his songs and writes his own lyrics that are heart felt and truly relatable. He also arranges his own vocals which are capable being light and airy as well as strong and bold. His voice is soulful and he is able to run through multiple notes naturally and seemingly with ease. His ability to harmonize is unparalleled.

David was born October 19th 1980. He started singing at a very early age, as he was born to a mother who was a singer in the families’ church. His father was a US Marine and machinist. His family was forced to relocate relentlessly due to employment opportunities and losses. David withdrew to his room singing and dreaming of creating songs but his family was unsupportive. David was transferred from school to school and his new classmates would tease him about his last name. The name “Dub” would later reinforce his dreams of being a songwriter/singer.

David wrote his first song at the astonishing age of twelve years old called, “We’re in Heaven.” His words, contrary to now, are fantasy. His songs were escape from a life of instability. David was not sustained in his decision to pursue a career in entertainment. His mother was fiercely against any such lifestyle as it went against her religious beliefs. And since his family moved so much, David didn’t get involved in any extra curricular activities to nurture and shape his gift until he was in high school where he joined chorus, drama club and theater as a freshman. He auditioned and was cast as “Motel” in “Fiddler on the Roof” where he caught the attention of his high school music dept. He had found his first reassurance and recognition of his talent. He performed in several other musicals and plays, he won first place in his vocal competitions, he was accepted into IMEA and was also named “Most talented” and “Most likely to succeed” by his peers. Keep in mind that David was still the new kid in school.

In 2000, David was signed to a recording contract with an independent record company in Chicago. He wrote and recorded seven songs with five different producers for a demo to be presented at Midem, the music festival in Cannes, France. The demands of his management team soon became simply unreasonable, but David, being a man of his word, met these demands. There was little organization as sessions were lost due to photo shoots, public relation events and all the basics that go along with signing a recording contract. However all seven songs were still written and recorded within a three month period. So before David had even departed on a flight to France, he was already exhausted.

When in France, David made a huge impression on the music scene itself. It was stated that every A&R rep in the festival woke up with David Dub in their bed, which was a backhanded compliment to his promotion team that did an amazing job of dispensing his self titled demo CD. He was photographed with Mariah Carey, Juanye Morris (lead singer, BoyzIIMen) and several other high profile names. In his conversation with Mariah Carey, David would discover how important it is to fully trust the people with whom he surrounds himself. Soon after, it became obvious that this was unfortunately not the case professionally. After a brutal falling out with his management team, David felt betrayed. It wasn’t until this happened that David realized that in order to preserve his own sanity, he would have no choice but to part ways with his management team.

In the years that followed, David worked as a successful manager/Optician for an optical store. He was in a long term relationship and tried to live a normal life. While he worked, socialized and acted like all was fine, he was fractured inside. It wasn’t until his relationship ended abruptly that the bottom fell out completely.

David decided it was time to make his dreams a reality. Knowing that if one can conceive something and they believe in it, it is achievable, David set out to complete an album and do what he feels he is meant to do. He has experienced a long journey of trials and tribulations that have helped shape him into an artist with passion, drive, integrity and most of all, survival. David has honed his craft. He has become proficient in his lyrics, hooks and melodies. He has become a pop music phenomenon. He has finally come full circle and is using everything he’s learned along the way to his benefit. He is working with talented and supportive people with one common interest which is to make the world a better place. With this in mind David wrote a new album. His first single appropriately titled, “Believe.”

David has accomplished all of this amidst a sea of drama and chaos. It is somewhat difficult to imagine how successful David will be when he is actually able to spread his wings and soar. It is in this moment that David is ready to fly, standing on the edge of
