"Rosenbergs - AllMusic Guide"

The Rosenbergs have gained more attention for their intransigent relationship toward the music business than for their music. But their refusal to buckle down to unfair industry contracts has not completely overshadowed their concise, original indie pop sound. After spending five years bumming around New York, burning bridges with a revolving door of drummers and guitar players, David Fagin and Evan Silverman finally found a pair of Joes, Mahoney and Darone, to complete their lineup. In 1999, they unveiled Ameripop, their first full-fledged studio release. They supplied the funds for their own tour of England and then returned to the States in hopes of garnering more publicity. It was about this time when they turned down opportunity to appear on Farmclub.com, a website/cable TV show/record label conglomeration headed by Jimmy Iovine, because of some particularly one-sided contract terms. This brash display of independent-label integrity loosened a torrential flood of positive publicity, which they've been feeding off ever since. But this shrewd and dedicated foursome has more to offer than a keen sense of marketing. They've hammered out a clever pop sound that could compare to the brightest days of Cheap Trick. Fagin's lyrics treat traditional tormented love themes creatively, and the cohesiveness of the band proves they're not just playing at being rock stars. With the help of their new label, Robert Fripp's Discipline Global Mobile, they released Mission: You in 2001, a gorgeously produced sophomore effort, drowning out critics who might have suggested they were a gimmicky fluke. David Fagin – Bio

David Fagin is the founder/singer/guitarist for the NYC pop quartet, The Rosenbergs.

Search the Internet for info on The Rosenbergs and you'll come across hundreds of articles summarizing a history of bold career moves. One of which was teaming up with legendary progressive rock master, Robert Fripp. Through Fripp's UK based label, DGM, The Rosenbergs, way ahead of their time, began paving the way for artists to begin partnering with labels, thus giving them a share in the ownership of their masters and better control of their financial futures.

A few months later, while the rest of the music industry was waging war against Napster, The Rosenbergs took another controversial step by teaming with the infamous file-sharing service for tour sponsorship and a "buy one, get one free" promotion for their sophomore release Mission: You.

The Rosenbergs were the first band to appear for five consecutive nights on Last Call W/ Carson Daly. They’ve shared the stage with everyone from No Doubt and Stone Temple Pilots to Duncan Sheik, The Strokes, and Duran Duran.

David has made numerous co-hosting appearances on XM radio and was asked by Gene Simmons of Kiss to appear on the Howard Stern Show to discuss the future of the music business. After his first appearance on Dennis Miller Live, David produced several future panels for the show.

Since Jesus was a baby, David has been active in the politics of the music business. He represented the web casters at the C.A.R.P. hearings on Capitol Hill alongside Alanis Morissette and has lectured on the business of music at Harvard Law School, Vanderbilt University, Emory Law, UCLA, and NYU. He regularly speaks on countless industry panels across the country.

David is a frequent contributor to Billboard Magazine, USA Today, The Hollywood Reporter, and is currently a contributing writer to AOL News/Huffiington Post. http://www.aolnews.com/team/david-fagin/

His music can be heard on networks such as FOX, CBS, NBC, WB, BRAVO, MTV, A&E, Food Network, and ESPN. Odds are you've heard his songs while flying American Airlines, shopping at The Gap, or watching one of the many primetime teenage soaps.

David’s song “Birds of a Feather” was recently chosen as the theme to Jenna Elfman’s sitcom “Accidentally on Purpose” on CBS and he's currently developing the cable series 'Rock in a Hard Place' for Showtime.
