Bio

David hails from Cambridge, MA USA. He showed an interest in guitar and singing throughout his early life, but was not a serious practitioner by any means. Even in high school and college he only dabbled. After college, David found himself knee deep in corporate america. Realizing he was in danger of becoming stuck on an unfulfilling path, one day, at the age of 30, he quit his job without really having any idea of what to do next. After several months, it became apparent that this would be a great time for him to give music a serious go. He’d been playing more and more lately, bought that expensive guitar he’d always wanted, been writing more, improving. So why not? And less than two years later, things are continuing on an upward trend. With a residency running a table session every friday at a favorite local bar in Harvard Square, and new, exciting playing opportunities coming his way all the time, there is no sign of slowing down for David.

Though able to at least get by on five instruments (guitar, piano, harmonica, mandolin, fiddle), you'll most often see David on his first instrument, guitar, with harmonica mixed in. This is because he is usually joined by his bandmates, Forrest O’Connor on mandolin/mandola and Bethany Weiman on cello. Together they make up the nucleus of the David Gallagher Band. They play a modern, soulful version of roots americana music mixing in things like 60’s soul, delta blues, and old-time and adding rich three part harmonies.

David and his band have been playing Boston-area clubs and bars for about a year now and have steadily built up a fan base and are earning much appreciated respect from their fellow musicians. Work is underway on a studio album which should be released in the fall of 2013.
