“In a world of auto-tuned vocals, tabloid journalism, and niche marketing, the way to make it, they say, is to get noticed. Figure out how to do something new or take something popular and tweak it in a way that people haven’t seen before. There’s nothing at all new on David Gaulton’s latest Beyond These Walls, and that’s part of what make it so refreshing. It’s clear that Gaulton’s intention is to express, not impress, and that sincerity comes through on a collection of songs that could function either as poignant reminders of the glory of God and his plans for the Church, or straight up worship (in fact, the disc’s inner sleeve features chord charts for each song).
Gaulton’s basic style is new country meets light alternative-fans of Paul Baloche should feel right at home, and shades of Chris Tomlin pop up from time to time. Simple piano alternates with modern guitars, juxtapositions that mirror Gaulton’s lyrical call for believers to both be the Church an reach outside of its walls. It’s when the music is aimed straight at God that Beyond These Walls reaches its full potential. The standout track, “Your Story (It Is You),” calls listeners (or singers) to praise and honor a God who is creator, sustainer and, in every way, “the hope of life.”

Southern California born worship leader and songwriter, David Gaulton, has emerged as a bold voice in this generation. David’s passion for worshiping, writing songs, and living his life in a way that would change the world, has called some to compare his ministry to that of the late Keith Green. David’s most recent album, Beyond These Walls, debuted in 2010 which calls for Christians to shine as a light in this dark world, and was recently featured in Worship Leader Magazine, in which the article praised David’s “simple piano alternates with modern guitars, juxtapositions that mirror Gaulton’s lyrical call for believers to be the Church and reach outside of its walls.” On this latest album David teamed up with producer Steve Marcia, guitarist for Phil Wickham, Francesca Battistelli, the Kry, and Music Director with Northpoint Ministries in Atlanta. David’s songs have connected with churches around the world from Seattle, Washington to South Africa with congregations around the globe using his songs in their worship gatherings. David’s single “Righteous King” was featured at Saddleback’s Worship Conference on their 2008 Saddleback Song Seeker CD. One of David’s joys is serving as the Ministry Artist with Heavenly Treasures, a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing Christian micro enterprises to assist the poor. David and his band currently tour throughout the country as well as internationally encouraging and challenging the church in 2011 and beyond!
