"Review of Americana Hour"

"Het uitstekende zangwerk van David Hillman doet bij mij dan weer herinneringen opflakkeren aan de beste Ryan Adams ten tijde van Whiskeytown." - RootsTime.be

"Review of Americana Hour"

“He is extremely passionate about his work, obviously taking the time to find the exact sounds he wanted…He uses so many styles, it will be interesting to see which one he decides on, but it’s a sincere effort from a Seattle musician with a big upside.”

"Review of Americana Hour"

“This is a real Americana hour…sturdy, energetic, & bluesy…some tracks even find themselves between the musical styles we already know…David knows exactly what he is doing.”

"David Hillman"

"...sounds so comfortable grooving out of my stereo. This is a band that cllicks from the word go, pumping out music that brims with summery sex-appeal and dusky cool... David Hillman's voice has enough grit to make you squint...We think it'll please".

"Review of Americana Hour"

“…he has sure brought his mastery of several key American styles. No relation to the Hillmans of Byrds and Burritos fame, he, like those bands, brings an energetic and authentic mix of traditional and rock styles that is the real deal…Americana Hour is a smart brooding thing full of good old American schizophrenic love of making a sonic stew.”

Bio

On his full-length debut “Americana Hour” singer/guitarist David Hillman takes a loose, bluesy, and soulful approach to several key American musical styles with energy and authenticity. Perfectly at home in the studio, a solo gig, or a date with a full band, Hillman fills up the room with a heated dedication to a mixture of traditional musical types, with his eye on completely entertaining an audience.

Live gigs feature tight 3-part vocal harmony, upright and electric bass from young performance major Olivia Hamilton, smooth drumming from Austin’s Tony Ramos, and solid duo guitar work from longtime friends Hillman and Mark Rachuna. Performances breathe with personality, verve and old-school showmanship, bringing to mind artists like Bobby Bare Jr., Tom Waits, John Spencer, and Jack White.

“Americana Hour” was recorded in 8 days at Studio Litho in Seattle by Floyd Reitsma and delivers twelve solid tracks of rock, alt-country, indie rock, blues, and roots music that should excite any fan that can appreciate artists who convincingly meddle with different genres.

In the first year of its release the album has received airplay on several Seattle area radio stations including KEXP FM 90.3, KBCS FM 91.3, and KCWU FM 88.1. David's new record has been featured on the weekly syndicated radio program "The Undiscovered Radio Network" and was also featured on "The Radar Report" on XM Satellite Radio's XMU (Channel 43). The record is currently in rotation on Clear Channel's "Undiscovered" (HD ch. 1009) and is receiving airplay overseas on stations in Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Norway. Also "Americana Hour" was featured in the quarterly album showcase put on by The Levee Breaking (www.theleveebreaking.com).
