David Jon DeWees
Brookfield, Wisconsin, United States
Bio
Born in a small Iowa town, raised in Wisconsin, David is truly a Midwestern product.
Davids first live performance was at the age of seven, for an enthusiastic audience at Shakeys pizza in Green Bay, Wisconsin. After picking up the guitar at the age of nine, David began performing regularly as a freshman in High School, all during college, and continuing to the present day.
A major influence on Davids musical development was the impact of the singer/songwriters as in James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, John Prine just to name a few.
David became a serious student of the art of songwriting, with a strong emphasis on lyrical substance, along with compelling melodies.
After performing at Shank Hall in Milwaukee, a spotter in the audience for Carmen/Daniels agency in Los Angeles, owned by the former leader of the Raspberries, Eric Carmen, called and requested more material. David rushed to Nexus studio, and met with owner/engineer Pat Lilly. Pat was impressed and offered David a recording deal. Thus, the album Aimin to Please was created.
Davids first album Aimin' to Please received critical accolades from Night Sights & Sounds (Milwaukee Music Publication) , as well as a featured article in Davids hometown paper, The Appleton Post-Crescent. The album featured some of Milwaukees premiere musicians and was received with great enthusiasm.
David followed up Aimin to Please with a fully acoustic project titled Me, Myself, & I, featuring Dan Lloyd on guitar, and David Stoddard on piano.
David was also honored by being featured on 91.1 The Avenue, as a Wisconsin songwriter, with Janet Planet as the host.
David has performed throughout the Midwest and currently calls Wisconsin his home base.
