"Mixing Jazz and The Beat"

"Rarely does an instrumentalist make his way through the endless loops and samples of modern dance music. David Longoria is a clear exception. His astounding prowess on the trumpet is enough to marvel at. In the So Cool track (Del Oro Music) he blends it with the stylish club groove and some of the dancefloors best productions. Two thumbs up!" - American Club DJ

"Longoria Performs LIFT Concert Series"

Trumpeter David Longoria could be satisfied with numerous tv and concert dates. He is emerging as one of the most important musicians in the pop and jazz scenes this year. But he has turned his talents toward education with a series of concert performances for more than a million US high school students this year.
The program is L.I.F.T. Living Intelligently For Today is a Los Angeles based non-profit group that presents recording artists to students at stadiums and school venues where the artists perform live and give a testimonial to living a focused lifestyle. The positive message is well received nationally and is sponsored by Chrysler, Coca Cola and a host of chain retailers.
Longoria is a crowd favorite as he plays his hits and gives a very moving performance. "He is the best I've ever heard," says John Myerson, 17 a Garfield HS student. "The show was awesome and they were very cool". Longoria will be performing a total of 200 concerts in the series from coast to coast this year. - Los Angeles Weekly Review

"Longoria Delivers The Goods"

Often the hype about a new artist can lead to a big dissapointment when you experience the performance. Not so with trumpeter/singer David Longoria who headlined at the House Of Blues in Hollywood last night. His set was energetic and at times breath taking. Backed by a band of accomplished jazz and dance/electronica players, Longoria lived up to the hype and delivered the goods. An amazing horn player and engaging entertainer, he held the attention of the audience for the entire show. The standing room only crowd at the House was loudly appreciative and demanded a second encore. A must see for jazz and electronica lovers alike.

"Longoria Brings Jazz To Dance Floors"

Jazz has had a long tradition of making people dance. Dixieland to Big Band (and all the various Latin varieties) have inspired the moves of many a fancy foot. Trumpeter David Longoria has brought his own take on this tradition. His combination of improvisation with the most current dance club productions have been charting and gaining the attention of djs in both radio and dance clubs. NY radio station KYU-radio has been featuring Longoria's DEEPER LOVE single in their hot music lineup, of late. This programming is regularly filled with dance records built from samples of beats, vintage rhythmic records and sound effects. The addition of the live trumpet improvising over the beats is a fresh take according to the club music powers that be. One of the nations premier remixers and club djs Junior Vasquez took the single and remixed it with his own influences including tribal and latin rhythms. The version is playing on radio and in clubs throughout NY and in Europe.
According to Longoria "it all comes down to the song and a real performance". No stranger to songwriting, he has written several hundred songs for many artists on several Billboard charts. Writing Deeper Love was a conscious effort to combine jazz and club music. "I love to play and sing and this song was built to allow me to do just that."
The song also required the services of r&b songstress CeCe Peniston who brought her own soulful vocals to the song. "CeCe was just what I envisioned when I wrote this to bring all these elements together," Longoria says.

"Artists Give Kids A LIFT"

Recording artists perform Monday at the Donald W. Reynolds Boys and Girls Club on Robindale Road in Henderson. Above, trumpeter David Longoria makes children laugh while talking to them.

Singer Juliet, right, performs with Latisha, a dancer with the group, Too Much Caffeine. The concert was sponsored by Living Intelligently For Today, or L.I.F.T., a Los Angeles-based organization that offers an alternative to negative messages associated with popular music.

"jazz review; DAVID LONGORIA"

I'll make this really simple... WOW!!!! And I mean that with very capital letters. After over 20 years in the Smooth Jazz world, I must admit I've gotten a bit jaded and it does take a lot to knock my socks off. Well folks, David Longoria has managed to get me barefoot. Not only does this classically trained trumpeter stand out as a performer, his songwriting and production skills are so outstanding they have been utilized by artists in virtually every genre of music, including Pop, R&B, Jazz, Flamenco and Rock. And if that weren't enough, Longoria also sings..._beautifully. His vocals are warm and rich, sultry and steamy. Add to this the guest performances of no less than guitarists Marc Antoine and Ottmar Liebert, vocalist CeCe Peniston and percussionist Poncho Sanchez, and the result is one of the most noteworthy and scintillating albums I've encountered in a long while. Featuring Antoine on guitar, the first single "Sunset" is playful and frisky. This instrumental track has a terrific groove, a massive hook and its mischievousness is mesmerizing. The amorous "A Slow Dance" features Longoria on both trumpet and vocals and both are utterly enthralling. Longoria flirts and frolics his way through "So Cool," while "All She Does Is Dance" is infused with Latin rhythms and both the vocals and instrumentation emphatically roar with passion. With BAILA! (Spanish for Dance!), David Longoria hits all the right sensory notes...there are going to be quite a few toes tapping to this one, sans socks no doubt!~BETH LEWIS

"SPYRO GYRA, DAVID LONGORIA, MARC ANTOINE- HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM"

SPYRO GYRA, DAVID LONGORIA, MARC ANTOINE- Hollywood Palladium in concert-
...
The next set of the evening commenced as David Longoria took the stage with his band to perform. The amazingly vehement Latin songs from his upcoming CD release, Castles In Spain, and ¡Baila! All She Does Is Dance opened this set. On both these songs David Longoria showcased his unique talent. The tone of his trumpet is reminiscent of that of both Herb Alpert and Arturo Sandoval. He is an exceptional trumpet player and he demonstrates his expertise continually with each song that he performs. He is also a very skilled vocalist who communicates wonderfully with an audience. The son of the famed Thomas “Coke” Escovedo an original member of the early Carlos Santana band of the 1970s – Paris Escovedo is building upon his father’s legacy. That evening he displayed the essence of percussive genius throughout the set. Other members of the band, Carl Strand, Arthur Pruit, Jonathan Goldman, Rayford Gilliard, and Eddie Rouse equally established that they were indeed in their element. Del Oro recording artist April Diamond and Fausto Berragone provided vocals for the band. The Face Of An Angel was sung by Y-Nita Hall, the song was rather evocative of Marvin Gaye’s Inner City Blues. David awed the audience when he hit the high notes on Que Pasa Con Mi Corazon. Jonathan Goldman had an amazing trombone solo, and Arthur Pruit on Saxophone along with Carl Strand on the acoustic and electric guitars, and Rayford Gilliard on bass did as well on No Turning Back. The final song Muy Caliente, was just that – hot. Each song had a very strong and fluent flow. Each seasoned player rose to the occasion and displayed their unique gifts.
