Biography

I am a performing songwriter/guitarist and record producer living in beautiful Boise, Idaho. I've been fortunate to have learned the art of songwriting from one of the greats, my friend and mentor for over two decades Bob Cheevers in Austin, Texas. We toured England and Scotland as a duo through the summer of 2007 and in summer 2008 we toured again but with me as the opening act. in 2008 we co-wrote and co-produced a Bob Cheevers CD entitled "Fiona's World" (Berkalin Records). Two of the songs, including the first song on the CD "What I've Done For Love" and the song "Every Beauty" I wrote solo. In January 2008 I released my first solo CD Morningtown.

My song "Every Beauty" is slated to be prominently featured in the hit Nickelodeon series "True Jackson VP" in late 2009. It will be performed to my instrumental tracks as a duet by two of the stars of the show, Ashley Argota and Trevor Brown. A music video version is also in production for broadcast on the network and perhaps others.

I currently perform in a four-piece band playing my music exclusively. These top-flight musicians recreate the rich sound of the album. Since we do not play cover songs, we seek out 1-2 hour showcase gigs and opening act opportunities with compatible artists.

Morningtown

MORNINGTOWN

In Morningtown by the American River
In a strip mall we all nicknamed Byrnum Downs
Is the place where we first met
How could I ever forget in Morningtown
In Morningtown

Now Morningtown's a sprawling nothing special
Sure as hell's not the worst place I have found
Good ones tend to blow right through
But I got lucky when I found you in Morningtown
In Morningtown

Remember when we stayed up all night
To try to see things in a different light
We fell together as the sun began to rise

Nothing's ever felt so right
As coming home to you every night in Morningtown
In Morningtown

Ballerina

BALLERINA

Like a storm cloud waiting
Full of rain that's bound to fall
I've been holding in this song
Until you came along

But the time's never wasted
When your boots are bound for home
When I saw you dance alone
I just had to sway along

Ballerina
Spin into my life
Ballerina
Dance for me tonight

Young girl in a picture
With her hand upon the barre
One shoe pointing to the floor
And the other to the stars

Now you dance through the kitchen
Baby girl held in your arms
And the music makes you one
So the dream carries on

Ballerina
Spin into my life
Ballerina
Dance for me tonight

Your body speaks, my body answers
Perfect release, after the dance is through

Pirouette like lighting
While the music thunders on
When you land where you belong
You can feel it in your bones

Ballerina
Spin into my life
Ballerina
Dance with me tonight

Like a storm cloud waiting
Full of rain that's bound to fall
I've been holding in this song

It's The Little Things

Written By: ©2008 David MacNeill Music (BMI)

T'S THE LITTLE THINGS

She always drank her coffee from a teacup
She never liked to fly so we'd take a train
She had an old Hank Williams record
And she played it all the time
I'd love to hear her sing again

She was born in Louisiana
She spoke a little French
Long hair and the big eyes of a child
And she's take all my expressions
And she'd turn them inside out
Now I say them her way all the time

It's the little things that everyone remembers
Like a three-chord song that everybody plays
And every time I think about the greatest love I've known
It's the little things that remain
It's the little things that remain

Just last week the old gang got together
The sound of her name brought back the memories
Of how she watched the world with her pretty head
Turned a little to the side
I wonder if she thinks of me

It's the little things that everyone remembers
Like a three-chord song that everybody plays
And every time I think about the greatest love I've known
It's the little things that remain
It's the little things that remain

We were young and crazy
Made some big mistakes
But the best of times stay in mind
Without those old heartaches

It's the little things that everyone remembers
Like a three-chord song that everybody plays
And every time I think about the greatest love I've known
It's the little things that remain
It's the little things that remain

Methuselah Wood

Written By: ©2008 David MacNeill Music (BMI)

METHUSELAH WOOD

I've been moving faster
Halfway up the hill
With the wind against me
I'm running standing still

High on this desert mountain
These ancient pines survive
A bristlecone cathedral
For the oldest things alive

Now I'm walking, walking in Methuselah Wood

Now if these pebbles were troubles
We'd all be dragging a ton
But you know it's the struggle
Makes us all so strong

Blasted by an icy wind
'Till a burning sun appears
This old tree's been standing
Close to five thousand years

Now I'm walking, walking in Methuselah Wood

And the feeling from this place
Will be with me all my life

And I'll be walking, walking in Methuselah Wood
Walking, walking in Methuselah Wood
Walking, walking in Methuselah Wood
