Bio
Its all about the song.
David McCann is a songwriter and performer.
5 of his songs reached the semi-final stage of the 2009 UK Songwriting Contest.
He lives and writes and plays in Bangor, a seaside town that's not in Wales or in Maine, but in County Down, Northern Ireland, the cast of a stone from the buzzing hive of Belfast.
When he can, he loves to go to where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea, just to enjoy life, and to write songs in the shadow of the hills. If you've a hint of the Celtic soul in you, just one glimpse of Slieve Binnian as the fading evening sun paints its slopes in pale amber, and you'll know the pull of the Mourne Mountains.
David has played in many venues throughout the island of Ireland, but his main focus for gigging has been the Belfast Area where he plays acoustic sets in small clubs and pubs.
He has played at the wonderful Belfast/Nashville Festival in 2008 and 2009. In 2010 he will extend his sphere of influence with a new album '...and sang to a small guitar', which he hopes to play to audiences near and far.
He has played and recorded classical guitar and mandolin with the chamber choir, Cantiunculae, but his main interest is in crafting songs, each different from the last and each unique in style and substance. Sad and nostalgic or upbeat and grateful, but always lyrical, these are songs that remain with you long after the final chord has died.
