David Patrick Carter

 London, England, GBR
BandRockSinger/Songwriter

David Patrick Carter, one of the great unsigned acts left to be illuminated by the worlds media. Courted by the major record labels, he still plays, writes and earns independantly unconcerned by the changing world around him. Try to imagine Jack Johnson, Cindy Lauper, Nick Drake and Badly Drawn Boy!

Biography

David Patrick Carter is based in Islington (North London), Cape Town (South Africa) and Andalucia in Spain. David cites Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Cyndi Lauper and Paul Weller amongst his musical influences.

David has organised, booked and promoted his own tour which has taken him to Joburg and Cape Town in South Africa, supporting Karen Zoid, Josie Field, Cofield Mundi amongst many others.

Flying to London to play live in Piccadilly, before jetsetting off to Spain, David has played live in some of London's biggest venues and played in Puerta Beunos at the infamous Budda Beach building up a strong fan base in London and around Malaga.

David's next move is back to London to play at high profile venues such as the Borderline and then off again to strum his way through the winter season in the French Alps close to Chamonix.

"The world might be in financial meltdown, and I can still afford the cost of a new set of strings for my Martin... I just want to play my guitar, " boasts Carter in a recent interview for SABC in South Africa.

Even though this self motivated maverick plays in clubs all over London, South Africa, France and Spain he still fondly recalls a day busking on the London Underground as his favourite gig. "I earned £12 and I was threatened by a tramp who thought I had stolen his pitch," he says.

Signed to Paste Magazine and Coca Cola in Jan 2007 for licensing, promotion and marketing in the US, this lovable rogue looks set for a bright future. David Patrick Carter's lyrics create lovely nuggets that will slot into any music lover's Sunday Playlist, according to Leila Regan-Porter, Paste Magazine (US).

"Armed with an acoustic guitar and a soft, dreamy voice telling of other worlds existing in our very own, David takes those moments in the day where your mind wanders and your heart opens and creates little nuggets of loveliness," she says. "He wistfully twists words delicately around his strummed notes, lost in his own world but happily falling into ours."

If you have not seen David Patrick Carter live yet then I would suggest getting a move on and checking him out in Europe or flying him out to the US. This guy is incredible!

Lyrics

Starstruck

Written By: David P Carter

they say the writings on the wall
i'll teach my children to think big rather than small
they say that nothing can be done
i'd rather learn to walk so latter I can run

almost didnt make it
years I lost my way
almost didnt make it to this place at this time lost my love found my life

I'd like to strike a match in you
light up the universe so you can see the view
how can you say that this is wrong
as you were born to live and live the way that you were born

I was Starstruck and dazed
when I got cold cold drunk
and now Im sober for many reasons that I just wont illuminate
yeah i was Starstruck and dazed when I got cold cold drunk

Imagine nothing can be done
10,000 angels crying toppled one by one
I do believe that there is hope
we'll find the love we need we'll find this love so we can cope

Space Boy

Written By: David P Carter

Space boy fling to Mars
just through the atmosphere stealing stars
Space Boy land on the moon do not be scared you will be back home soon

Now take good head cos all you need
is in your heart right place to start
10.000 dreams you need just one
and I'll be home when you return

Space Boy speak to the sun
Wear your sunscreen otherwise you will burn
Soace Boy Armani space suit
please take a spare you know that one won't do

When the lights go down

Written By: Mr D P Carter

what do I have to say
when I feely this way
don't want to feel this way at all
some days its hard to take
that I too make mistakes

when the lights go down
and my heart it starts to beat
close my eyes as I can't sleep here any more
yeah my foot starts to scratch
and your nails run down my back

now that i need to grow
somewhere to learn and know
right from wrong and black from white
for those who do forget
end up that they regret

when the lights go down
and my heart it starts to beat
close my eyes as I can't sleep here any more
yeah my foot starts to scratch
and your nails run down my back

our world is full of contradictions
religion taught me that
movie screens and TV perfection

when the lights go down
and my heart it starts to beat
close my eyes as I can't sleep here any more
yeah my foot starts to scratch
and your nails run down my back

The 13th Step

Written By: David P Carter

The 13 Steps I got to take and if I make sure I don´t make a mistake
you know I´ll find myself on the top of a mountain
I look around and touch the sky
oh yeah I´m talking to God I´m not even high

But time has got to treat me this way
you know its hard enough
to ask you who I am

Here comes love
love is a drunk
driving down the road

When I was young I lost my heart the world it took it and tour it apart
search the earth to find the glue to fix it
I look around and I can see
there´s other people on the world and they feel the same as me

Time has got to treat us this way
you know its hard enough
to ask you who you are?

Here comes love
love is a drunk
falling off the chair
so where´s your dream
just open your eyes
as a hand runs through your hair

even though you cant try any more
you´ll get by that´s for sure
and maybe the 13 steps will bring you closer to your truth

Cos you are drunk
drunk with love you have been all of these years
and where´s your dream?
just open your heart

Morb

lying under lamp shades why they always asking for

More I beg you for More
More I beg you for More

Ahh!

Hey now watch you die I watch you take you life
Hey now watch you die I watch you take you life
Hey now watch you die I watch you take you life
I was down and I was out
I heard you scream I heard you shout
what a do what ta do lately
what a do when you go crazy

Fish Tail

Written By: David p Carter

I´m a fish in the sea
like a fish I can breath
breathing under water

there´s some food on a hook
take the food I get cooked
cooking fish under water

love won´t hurt you any more
I got medicine that heals and cures
love won´t find me here for sure
I´m too deep down by the oceans floor

Many fish in the sea
there´s another for me
chasing fish tails in water
ain´t that easy
