Biography

There was something special about being a child of the 90's. David Paul Zimmer's story is a product of being a high schooler while the grunge movement tore its swath through America. It was the songs on the radio in those days that bore it's initial mark on David's development. Underneath the flannel shirts and distorted guitars were SONGS that meant everything to a kid. And David soaked them in when he began playing guitar in 1994.

But David is not only a child of the 90's but a child of the Southeastern United States. Growing up in the Southeast, being from the South unknowingly becomes part of your identity and that identity eventually crept its way into David's songwriting.

Playing in rock bands that took him from Gainesville, FL to Nashville, TN, David finally settled back in to his hometown of Tallahassee, FL and began writing songs more true to HIS story than anything he has done to date. David's songs are laced with the Rock and Country roots that he transcends into a style that is uniquely him.

New Year's Day

Written By: David Paul Zimmer

New Year's Day

It never gets that cold in December
This night was no exception if I remember
We were celebrating the dawn
Of a brand new year
When the sound of fireworks caught our ears
Some memories stay with you
And others fade away
I think about this one every New Year’s Day

She was a ghost
She was a memory in our eye
We didn’t know
What was going down that night
Some people blame their troubles
On some other guy
This one must’ve blamed it all on his wife

We hugged and told each other our goodbyes
I’ll see you next year don’t be a stranger now, goodnight
When we came around that bend
That’s when we could see
Before the sirens came around the corner flashing and screaming
There in the road is where she lied
On New Year’s Eve night, the year she died

She was a ghost
She was a memory in our eye
We didn’t know
Two gunshots rang out that night
Some people blame their troubles
On some other guy
This one must’ve blamed it all on his wife

Megan was nine
Near the prettiest girl in school
When she didn’t come to class that day
Everybody knew
Her mama had died
She’d left and gone away
Her daddy’s probably still in jail to this day
Some memories stay with you
And others fade away
I still think about that Megan every
New Year’s Day

She was a ghost
She was the apple of her eye
She didn’t know what was going on that night
Some people blame their troubles
On some other guy
This one must’ve blamed it all on his wife

Some people blame their troubles
On some other guy
This one must’ve blamed it all on his wife

Hurts Me Like You Do

Written By: David Paul Zimmer

The first time I laid my eyes on you
Bleach blonde hair
Workin the pole on stage at the the Truth or Dare
I was washed up, wasted and broken on whiskey a while
Asked me if I wanted a dance and I just smiled

In the ring I've been body slammed and bruised
But no one hurts me like you do

When I climb to that top rope they chant my name
It ain't the same when I'm working for the man
If it means sleeping in my van every now and then
I'll see you baby when I get paid again

In the ring I've been spitten out and chewed
But no one, no one
Hurts me like you do

GUITAR SOLO

They say every man has got his breaking point
Well I must have had nine or ten
But I'd rather get thrown off the ropes
Kicked in my face and pinned
I can't chase you forever baby doll
My body's wearing thin
But I promise if you'd love me darlin you'd never get hurt again...

In the ring I've been thrown against the mat
In the ring I've been tied up, choked and slapped
In the ring I've been body slammed and bruised
But no one, no one, no one...

In the ring I've had the teeth knocked out my head
In the ring I can't forget the things you said
In the ring all I think about is you
Cus no one, no one, no one

Hurts me like you do
