The Old Man

Written By: David Power

The air was crisp as the sun was fading,
The old man had a pipe in his mouth.
The breeze was cool as the trees were swaying,
I guess he knew what I was thinking about.

I looked across at the old man seated,
A withered body in an old rocking chair.
But in his eyes I saw a-shining,
As he turned to me and said.

Don’t worry boy, you’ll find your place in this life,
Just close your eyes and dream.
Don’t regret the things you’ve done,
The plans you’ve lost and the people you’ve loved.
Cause that’s what made you the man that you are.

After that he turned to the sunset,
And took another puff of his pipe.
As I stared I caught him smiling,
I guess he knew what life was about.

I closed my eyes and thought of the future,
I saw nothing though I tried.
Then a warm hand was placed on my shoulder,
My doubts were lifted as the old man sighed.

Don’t worry boy, the future will always be a mystery,
Just close your eyes and dream.
Set your priorities in your heart,
With love first and all the rest will take part.
That way, you will always be free.

And with that he emptied his pipe,
Picked himself up and went inside.

The Weekend

Written By: David Power

Some talk of fairy tales, dreams and lands far away,
Take all your troubles there, cast them away they
say.
Some wait eternity, to feel at ease,
Their persistence is hard to believe.
For me heaven's just a few days away,
Past the peak hours and working days.

The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.

Do you have enough pillows? Will be my question.
Chill me some chardonnay for this awful existence.
Why do I always feel renewed,
After sizzling snags on the BBQ?
For me my comforts are almost here,
Exactly two sevenths of the year.

The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.

Past the laptops, cover pages,
To afternoons that last for ages.
Through the boardrooms, old neck ties,
To mountain driving and Rosie's Thai.

The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.
The Weekend with you.

Love Struck

Written By: David Power

You really floor me sometimes baby,
When you look at me that way.
Amazed does not even cover the way I feel,
I can do nothing but say your name.

You got begging at your feet,
Please please take mercy on me.
In my hands sits my heart for you,
And with an arrow you push it deep.

Cause I'm
Love struck oooooh
Love struck, take mercy on me.
Love struck oooooh
An arrow through my heart you see.

Maybe I am your little boy,
Then surely you are the candy store
My dilemma is not which sweet to choose,
'Cause baby, I want it all.

Cause I'm
Love struck oooooh
Love struck, take mercy on me.
Love struck oooooh
An arrow through my heart you see.

There's no turning around
My temples start to pound
My eyes to yours are bound
On your finger.. I'm wound

I'm Love struck .. Love struck .. to fade
