Biography

I write all my own music, produce, play all the instruments, and for now handle promotion and distribution. My debut CD Entrance is available on i-Tunes,CDBaby,Digstation,Musicstream,and many others. The lyrics are pulled directly from my soul. I’ve played in numerous places with many other artists all with different styles of music. When I was younger I would pull out the horn only to be joined with the ska jams or started playing walking bass lines. I was curious how most musicians and others classified horn players in such traditional roles. I wanted to cross barriers stylistically as a brass player. I had ideas of live application of effects such as wah and distortion with the horn. I believed an artist that could play so many instruments with a fresh sound would be well received. I was right. People love it when a musician can come at them from different angles.
My music breaks age and other social barriers consequentially speaking to just about anyone. The goal was to stylistically mix it up and create an original work of art with a unique sound.
My songs are about life, my life and others that touch me. Human connection is a reoccurring subject as is hope, addiction, love, loss, isolation, and the political concerns I feel. Relationships and the tribulations that arise as a result are also focal points to me when I write.
The lyrics represent my life experiences and the emotions that I feel. My thoughts on love, the government, the human condition, greed, addiction, religion, and hope are all present.
Some of my main musical influences are Jeff Buckley, Incubus, Digable Planets, Maynard Ferguson, Miles Davis, Jurassic 5, Galactic, Nada Surf, Pearl Jam, DJ Shadow and DJ Krush. Many more have been heavy influences at different times in my life. Yet, as often as I have pulled influence from these bands I strive to be as different as they are from each other. The teachings I have taken from many of these musicians were their willingness to be unique and their undertakings of constant development. I too wish to strive to that level.
Many ask what kind of music I make. I take pride in the fact that it stumps me every time. The goal for me is to be as original as possible while staying true to myself as an artist. Acoustic, rock, indie, R&B, alternative, gypsy, blues, folk, and hip hop are all used to describe my final product. It’s music that everyone can connect with. This debut album is based on the truth of human emotion.

Roam

Written By: David Roam

Roam

Now you know I’ve always had it
I’m trippin automatic
One take through the static
Way more than just an addict
Once you hit it pull the shade down
I can bring the rain down
I’m here to spread the love
I can never rise above it
Ritualistic hesitation
Broken waves of concentration
All time is levitation
Through the lights and the tones
The sex and the clones
It’s hard to stay that stoned
I’ve got to roam
Roam till I find my way home
Stripped down
Strapped down only with necessities
The breath in front of my face
Gets the best of me
Fall into the tunnel to my mind
Take your time
Have a taste where I bleed it’s ecstasy
Remember me
Who’s standing on the tower
Steady, erecting all my fantasies
Thinking about resistance
I’m far from where I need to be
Everything is energy
I’m never who I used to be
You can’t stop the love
I’ve got to roam
Roam till I find my way home

Burn

Written By: David Roam

Burn
I’ve never felt like this
I’ve been falling through the lines
I keep spinning towards the end
Through the cigarettes, snow and wine
And now that you’re not here
You fill every space I see
Your smell lives in my bed
It just pours out from my dreams
Now the reason that I live
Is the reason that I cry
I’m left staring at the wall
That was made to hold the tides
I would burn it down
If it would bring you home
It’s so hard for me to see
Cause pain is all that’s real
I’ll just wait for you to breathe
I need your loving touch to heal
I taste you when I’m still
But now you’re in another place
And all my friends are pills
While you kiss another’s face
All your blame is all I have
I’m alone with all your cries
Now I wait behind the wall
That was made to save our lives
I would burn it down
If it would change your mind
I would burn it down
If it would bring you home

Break You Down

Written By: David Roam

Break You Down

Lately I’ve noticed you’ve been drifting away from me
You can’t see it but I can feel it in your rain
I will gladly steal you from the box you hide in
I will force you down
And make you see the truth of us
I want to break you down
Break it all down
I want to lay you down
And break it on down now
You’ve been running
I’ve been falling away from us
You deny it but I feel it the same way
I will gladly steal you from the box you hide in
I will force you down
And make you see the truth of us
I want to break you down
Break it all down
I want to lay you down
And break it on down now

Feel It

Written By: David Roam

Feel It

Another day with the California sun in my eyes
A beautiful day to love
A beautiful day not to die
So I rise and I burn another bridge
And jump into the flavor that threw us off the ledge
Another way for time to torture me
Without my friend here with me
So I crave all she needs
It shakes me when she breathes
I feel it
It’s coming down
I feel it
It’s coming round
Another taste for me to live again
Under me
She killed a friend
So I rise and I burn another bridge
And jump into the flavor that threw us off the ledge
Another place for me to never be
I refuse to feel at ease
On my knees
I’m twisted up
I’m slipping on a smile the cut me

John Lennon

John Lennon

Force fed a reason
Peace, truth and hope are out of season
Everybody’s praying to the TV
Would you drop two towers to deceive me
What’s the limit
What’s the latest fashion
Life is stolen, blinded with possessions
They say God’s rooting for the home team
I’d jump but there’s rocks below me
John Lennon was it all for nothing
Who killed the question
Is life worth more than a gallon
Can’t kill religion with an airplane
Kids chopping up lines of the cocaine
Where’s the mother
No way to stop this
There’s a killer in Kennedy’s office
They say that this is how it’s got to be
I’d jump but there’s rocks below me
John Lennon was it all for nothing

Why Did You Leave

Written By: David Roam

Why Did You Leave

Now I’m frozen in the headlights
And I can’t move at all
No more waiting on the next wave
Because I’m riding this one home
I’ve been drowning by the roadside
Where you left me there to grow
Now we’re broken like the skyline
There’s one thing left for me to know
Why did you leave me
You can’t blame me for the way I burned your heart to the ground
I was lost then
That’s how I dream it
Now I almost feel it’s real
Now it’s over
Kill the spotlight
Only you can save me now
In the morning the sun won’t find me
And you’ll never really know
Why did you leave me
