Rose employs intricate chordal and melodic fingerings...such as tapping, hammering, and open harmonics reminiscent of acoustic guitarists Michael Hedges and Phil Keaggy. - Steve Jahrling

Single "Palo Verde" as part of a double CD compilation entitled Can We Get Together? released in 2011 - a benefit CD featuring local Tucson musicians, all proceeds benefitting the victims of the Tucson shooting tragedy.

My name is David Rose, an acoustic guitarist and singer/songwriter who melds together influences as wide apart as classical music and metal. Yet the end result is something almost ergonomic to the guitar, like the music was meant to exist on this instrument.

I received a degree in classical guitar at the University of New Mexico in 1998 and released my first CD shortly thereafter in 2000. My guitar professor Michael Chapdelaine remarked that it was too rhythmical to appeal to the upper crust classical guitar crowd and too introspective to appeal to the pop crowd. Feeling that I had alienated any potential fan base, I asked him, "well what is it then?" He remarked "art."

This notion of creating something for the sake of creating it has struggled against the desire to have my music heard by other people. I think having more perspective on life has made me realize that being able to create something that another would call art is in itself the goal worth achieving.

My first CD is called the Journey and was performed on a nylon string classical guitar built by the Pimentals in Albuquerque New Mexico, my hometown. The classical guitar is dear to my heart, but it is the steel string that now captures my imagination. My upcoming CD is simply called Convergence and uses one guitar and one voice to convey one vision: music born out of the guitar.
