Bio
Music background: Learned Piano from age 6, learned Bassoon at school, discovered Status Quo and took up guitar at 12, switched to Bass guitar "cos it's got less strings, so it must be easier, eh?".
First Band: Roothless Spunz, a punk band.
Changed round to a powerpop band Cold Hearts, left to form Saracen (then Blaze) with Dave Maclauchlin.
Other Bands: Manray, a jazz fusion outfit in Aberdeen, also played in theatres, and wrote songs with a singer playing acoustic guitar and back-up vocals.
Played bass with The Storm Petrels, and The Ken Macleod Jazz Orchestra, became Musical Director of a drama school.
Started writing music for Films, Theatre, TV and Radio.
Influences: Status Quo, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Van Halen, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Rush, Kansas, Sex Pistols, Journey, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Irving Berlin, Francis Poulenc.
