Feeling a bit camera shy

Initially spurred by a recurring melody when I was a child, it was only after many years that seeing the dirty three made me realise that music and performance is infinitely stretchable. Since then I have made people happy with my honest music. I am not worried about the pratfalls and peculiarities of being a human.

'The Complete Guide to Insufficiency' was received so much better than anyone could hope. I hate to say it but it was what you'd call 'critical acclaim'. I am also proud of the mostly improvised 'Vs. 7 Hertz' record, it has taken time to creep into my own appreciation, but for what it was it unfurls in a beautiful slow jam, but still fragile.

When I perform I like to try new things, mostly to test myself, I place challenges that I have to overcome, devices to propel the performance along and hopefully provide amusement, entertainment, confusion, distress. Elements in an enjoyable watching and listening experience.

The most recent album (Outbreeding; due out this year) is more a presentation of songs than an entire musical piece. Working with Andy Ramsey (Stereolab) we produced a bigger and fuller sound, with a full band.
