Bio

David Wells is living his dream of a career in music. At the age of 9, David began studying the flugelhorn and trumpet and had his professional debut at the age of 13. Heavily influenced by Louie Armstrong, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass, David evolved into an instrumental soloist, reaching his audiences on an intimate level.
Wells shares his musical gift with the release of 6 CD’s and nearly 200 performances a year. In 2006, the release of More Love, More Power, brought national acclaim on smooth jazz radio and reached #13 on the R&R (records and recordings) indicators. Additionally, his performance of “Strawberry Letter #23” was charted at #10 in early 2007, just under internationally famous artist Kenny G.
David’s career soared in 2007 after moving to #10 on the R&R charts, and he was endorsed by trumpet and flugelhorn manufacturers Conn and Selmer. His television and sports appearances included airing in Columbus Blue Jackets and ESPN2 broadcasts and performing for the Cincinnati Reds. David was also featured in Christian music magazines and networks, WTAP-TV’s Daybreak and numerous Christian conferences.
In 2007, David made guest appearance on the national television show Studio Jams, with over 10 million viewers on the BET Network. In November 2007, he performed aboard the luxurious Sovereign of the Seas, smooth jazz cruise.
Jazz show host Larry Hollowell spoke of the cruise performance praising that, “Wells’ soaring trumpet carved melodies…Wells’ facility on his horn is masterful, to say the least. His tone is boldly exciting and immediately engaging.”
David’s music is so engaging his holiday single, Deck the Halls, hit #1 as the most-added song on smooth jazz radio stations nationwide in cities such as Chicago, Miami, Orlando, and NYC. He also hit #8 in the Top 10 most spin increase listing nationwide.
In 2008, Wells continues to win fans all over the country with the release of his 7th CD, Friday Afternoon on Nuance/Little Fish Records available now at stores such as Barnes and Noble, and online at www.littlefishrecords.com . The CD hit #24 on the charts and within just one short week rose to #23. “Friday Afternoon is a collection of instrumental pieces, which reach out and touch the listener’s heart and soul,” said Hollowell.
