Bio
I am a third-year Fine Art student concentrating in painting at Queen's University. Songwriting for me is one of the most
powerful ways of resolving and digesting the various changes and currents of my life.
In painting, as in songwriting and performance, the 'artist's mark' is an integral aspect of my work. I have a natural tendency towards traditional techniques and styles that reflect the creative power of the human hand in art and music.
My music serves in many ways as a counterpart to my visual work. I equate the simplicity and intimate nature of my musical performance to my audible artist's mark.
The simplicity of my songs is also a rejection of today's technologically manufactured and synthesized popular music. I maintain honest simplicity in recording and performance by playing and singing alone, independent of technology that adjusts my sound.
Musical influences include Damien Rice, Joni Mitchell, Emily Haines and Graham Nash.
