Bio

Biography for David M. Wyatt

One could almost say that David was created with a God-given gift for singing. Destined for ministry, David has been singing for a congregation or audience since he was four years old. He gave his heart and life to the Lord at the age of eighteen. David is currently a faithful member of Christ Nations Church (Isaac Pitre, Pastor) where he has served on the praise and worship team (recording artists-Nation of Praise), the mass choir, the male chorus, and the church ensemble, and now serving as co-music minister.

Perhaps known best for his heart-rending ballads of praise and worship, David possesses a multi-octave voice of staggering power and sensitivity that illuminates his soul-stirring vocals. David has had the opportunity to work with or receive instruction from musical greats including Daryl Coley, Ricky Dillard, Dr. Margaret Pleasant Douroux, Richard Smallwood, and Stephen Hurd. David’s accomplishments include: singing the National Anthem for the Dallas Desperados in Dallas, Texas; being given the honor of heading the official singing of “The Birthday Song” to, nationally-known gospel recording artist, Vickie Winans, at her 50th birthday celebration; serving as a background singer for gospel recording artists Darwin Hobbs, Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and Kim Burrell; carrying the title of the GMWA Gospel Treasure Search Winner (2006); having been selected to perform at Gospel Superfest (2006); having the privilege of sharing the stage with gospel giants, such as Kirk Franklin, Kelly Price, The Caravans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and J. Moss; and, most recently (November 2007), being honored with the Arkansas Gospel Heritage Award for Male Vocalist of the Year.

With influences in his musical development ranging from secular artists such as Stevie Wonder and Celine Dion, to gospel greats that include Walter Hawkins, The Clark Sisters, Donnie McClurkin, Daryl Coley, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, Israel Houghton, Darlene Zschech and the Hillsong Church Choir, and Minister Rickey Greene, it is no surprise that David’s singing style is diverse, versatile, intriguing, and compelling.

Drama as well as music has been a significant part of David's life. David kindled the fire in his acting career in the hit stage play "In Bondage", the smash hit "A Moment of Rage", and most recently, “Behind the Mask” written by Vanessa Fields, in which his musical strength was displayed in a different light, having written and co-written three songs performed in the play. David desires to use these other gifts to spread the Gospel through television, film, and drama, in addition to his music. David's passion is to carry the Word through all the cracks and crevices of the world where it has yet to penetrate.

As for the future, David says: "I pray that the music the Lord allows me to sing will touch everyone that falls under the sound of my voice. I pray that it will bring freedom, healing, deliverance, and inspiration to all who hear it. The most important thing to me is my relationship with God. I want to feel His presence and display the anointing in everything I do because I know that I was created for His purpose and glory. He's given me a platform, and I am going to follow as He leads and obey as He speaks.”
