Biography

BACKGROUND:

Davin McCoy is a gifted young singer-songwriter from Georgia who has been making a name for himself lately with his insightful songwriting and impassioned vocals. Inspired by a diverse group of legendary musicians from Ray LaMontagne to Otis Redding, Davin's stage presence and charisma make him a captivating live performer, and now he has a studio album that reflects his many talents.

Musical icons Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers Band) and Randall Bramblett were so impressed with Davin's raw songs that they joined the project and performed along with a borrowed Widespread Panic horn section on his new album So Good, So Cruel. Davin recorded this sophomore album in Athens, GA with longtime friend Casey Crogan on drums and producer Davis Causey (SeaLevel, The Jesters).

Davin previously worked with Clay Cook (John Mayer, Shawn Mullins, Zack Brown, Marshall Tucker) to record his first album and spent some time in London where he took up a publishing deal and continued to write and perform.

With his breakout album just released and already being played across the country, Davin McCoy is focused on hitting the road and performing fulltime throughout the SouthEast and across America.

NOTABLE QUOTES:

“Davin McCoy is a genuine artist in every sense. He is a wordsmith and musician with an insatiable appetite for insightful songwriting. He has a talent for telling the tale, commenting on the human condition from a perspective that is fresh, intelligent and occasionally wicked. He has a quiet charisma about him, compelling one to listen to what he has to say – and he needs to be heard” – Joe Bell (Hittin The Note magazine)

“Davin’s music grabs people. He’s a very strong talent, and if he keeps it together he’s going to become a great one.” – Randall Bramblett (Sea Level, Gregg Allman, Steve Winwood, Widespread Panic)

"Davin McCoy's music offers an honest observation on the dark sides of humanity, while leaving much needed space for hope and redemption. Natural melodies leave an open canvas for heavy lyrics, soulful vocals, and emotional performances. Whether solo or with the band, Davin is sure to captivate." - Colton Priest Entertainment

Lyrics

London Rain

Written By: Davin McCoy

Though her memories were black and white

And her dreams a little faded

The words she used seemed shiny and new, unaffected,

Maybe slightly jaded

But her stories mustered melodies

As if her soul was trying to sing

A song of days, that got washed away by time,

And the London rain

The stories she told

Came to life and began to unfold

She summoned souls

To replay roles

Of fallen lovers, old friends, and foes.

One by one,

The ghosts came in and took their rightful place by the fire

One by one,

The ghosts came in and took their places by the fire

Then the quiet went and sat down

As if to take in the sound

She spoke into the silence

That use to fill this busy town

She spoke about a romance

That seems to only live in history

The kind that doesn’t travel well

And seems to dance and linger waiting beyond the sea.

The stories she told

Came to life and began to unfold

She summoned souls

To replay roles

Of fallen lovers, old friends, and foes.

One by one,

The ghosts came in and took their rightful place by the fire

One by one,

The ghosts came in and took their places by the fire

She lived her life again that night

Growing older by the light

I left the cottage by the stream just to face the London rain.

These Walls

Written By: Davin McCoy

She said this game is getting boring; you can hear the old man snoring
Coming from the room next door
She’s talking on the phone to the only other man that she’s ever really loved before.
Now her eyes are getting tired, yeah she’s feeling kind of wired;
She’s drinking enough for two
On the lonely, lonely telephone he says well baby baby, I’m just looking for something new
Now she’s running for the door
She’s looking for something more
And if these walls could talk about the lover inside
They’d be screaming and reaching for a lover who lied
They’d be hurting and working for a love revived
Yeah they’d be crying and trying for a love that’s died
They’d be grieving and dreaming
For love
Baby, baby said she’s sick and tired of being admired and all the petty things that come along
She’s looking through the only window of this 13th story of a dream in life she knows she’s blown
But baby knows that maybe there’s a white knight riding on a horse she saw inside
A dream.
She says that life’s the only game we play where the consequences seem to fade away
In silent screams
Now she’s running for the door
She’s looking for something more
And if these walls could talk about the lover inside
They’d be screaming and reaching for a lover who lied
They’d be hurting and working for a love revived
Yeah they’d be crying and trying for a love that’s died
They’d be grieving and dreaming
For a love gone dry
Well baby baby hears the dogs barking in the driveway as the stranger creeps into her room
Now she knows she’s wrong she don’t belong being the star of someone else’s other lover’s gloom
But baby baby craves the sexy scratches racing down the sleepy strangers torso with the moon
She’s laughing hard with tears so far away inside a desperate night; she knows she’s finally come unglued
Now she’s running for the door
She’s looking for something more
And if these walls could talk about the lover inside
They’d be screaming and reaching for a lover who lied
They’d be hurting and working for a love revived
Yeah they’d be crying and trying for a love that’s died
They’d be grieving and dreaming
For a love gone dry

You, Love, Always You

Written By: Davin McCoy

I slept inside the long tall grass
Dreaming about mushroom caps
And lived a life I never even led
You always had a wonderful knack
For pointing out the things I lack
And resting upon my insecurities
This love can play a scary role
In bringing out the old asshole
I’ve kept inside my pocket all this time
Chorus
Yeah its you, love, always you
And your strange, strange sensibilities
Yeah its you, love, always you
You said dreams are just your favorite scene
I’m haunted by the looks I’ve left
Upon the faces I have loved
When navigating through my bloody wake
And the greatest lies are born of silence
The greatest wars didn’t start with violence
It’s all I ever heard you say
But your dress is creeping up your leg
I’m on my knees; I swear I’ll beg
To lick your warmth and let it run down me
Chorus
Chorus

Ashamed

Written By: Davin McCoy

This wine has gone bad, like the day that we had
Its ruined, and its all a bit sad
But I ran my lips down your chest and we kissed;
Ignoring the pain that we’d cause
This aint no fairy tale
This could be heaven, or this could be hell
And its all
Its all a bit wrong
This story, this story our song
And we both know, that you don’t belong
Lying inside, crying inside this bed where we hide
So ashamed, so ashamed
Of the love we made
Theres no more to say; it’s the same Goddamned thing
But its colder than our love was in spring
I just cant hold back; it’s the strength that I lack
When the waves from your hair hit my shore
This aint no fairy tale
This could be heaven, or this could be hell
And its all
Its all a bit wrong
This story, this story our song
And we both know, that you don’t belong
Lying inside, crying inside this bed where we hide
Ive never thought you better
Than when I read your angry
It said this bottle of pills is for you
I hope you take them all tonight
I really hope you do
And its all
Its all a bit wrong
This story, this story our song
And we both know, that you don’t belong
Lying inside, crying inside this bed where we hide
So ashamed, so ashamed
Of the love we made

The Sun

Written By: Davin McCoy

I know were a thousand miles apart
But I can hear your heart
I know there’s an ocean between us
From the tears you’ve cried
But darling darling, hear me now
Even if I have to scream
You’re the million things on my mind
And I can’t get no sleep
Pre Chorus
So close your eyes and believe when I say
Chorus
The Sun will come up again
And the night will come around
The sun will come up again
And the night will come around
So don’t let me bring you to your knees
Don’t let me bring you down
The sun will come up again
And the night will come around
I know you said the truth is just a bully
That we all pretend to like
And the honesty you are looking for
Is just emotion, wanting a little bit more
So darling darling, hear me now
Even if I have to scream
You’re the million things on my mind
And I can’t get no sleep
Pre Chorus
Half Chorus
So tie that bow up in your hair
And this ribbon around your arm
Close your eyes
And breathe deep
When I say…
Chorus

College Radio

Written By: Davin McCoy

Come back, come back
Come back this way
I still have something, something left to say
Come back, come back
Come back this way
I swear I didn’t kill your cat; I just let it run away
And this world wouldn’t be so great without:
Your beautiful hatred of me
This world wouldn’t be so great without your beautiful hatred of me
Calm down, calm down
Calm down my dear
I have, I have a secret for your ear
Calm down, calm down
Calm down my dear
I swear to God I’m coming home; let me finish this last beer
And this world wouldn’t be so great without:
Your beautiful hatred of me
This world wouldn’t be so great without your beautiful hatred of me
Now I’m climbing up the walls of your heart
Yeah I’m climbing up the walls to your heart
I’m climbing up the walls of the box you keep your heart inside,
So I can latch on tonight
So I can latch on tonight
And this world wouldn’t be so great without:
Your beautiful hatred of me
This world wouldn’t be so great without your beautiful hatred of me

You Got Me By The Hair

Written By: Davin McCoy

Woman get up; hold on
Don’t let nobody bring your down
Woman stand up; be strong
Use your suckers punch to put that fool back down
With fists of rage
Walk through the haze
Back to the good times and the old lies
Pass the joint along
Sing just one more song
Meet me in the street, and come up for a drink
You yeah you,
You got me by the hair
You got me by the hair
Yeah you, yeah you
You got me by the hair
Why sing about birds anyway, when birds can fly?
I think, Ill drink and drink just to make it through another day
You say, its not that bad, I’m just a little sad, but it will go away
