"Album Review of "Years of Gold""

The great thing about my obsession with music is discovering artist like Davy Finkbeiner and his debut album ‘Years of Gold‘, which came out at the beginning of this year. This seven track, Indie Folk album is about the trials and tribulations of growing up and learning to become an adult. As you might imagine the songs cover topics such as fear, anxiety, self examination, etc. The title song ‘Years of Gold‘ is an upbeat, catchy song which reminisces over youth and naiveté. It’s certainly the perfect start to the album because truly gives you a taste of what you can expect from this album.

There is a nice balance between the upbeat songs like ‘Years of Gold‘, ‘Sunshine‘, and ‘Wanderlust‘, whereas songs like ‘Back To My Roots‘ and ‘Day Dreams‘ are more sombre. As a result you get a variety of sound that will keep you listening til the end. I really enjoyed listening to every song on ‘Years of Gold‘. It’s a well written album that everyone can relate to, not to mention great to sing along with! You can watch the music video for ‘Here in Ohio‘ down below. As always, if you like what you hear then let’s keep good music coming by supporting these artists. Remember to follow the artist and spread the word! - The Music Below

Davy Finkbeiner is an indie rock / folk musician based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Davy truly is of the DIY mindset. He writes, records (besides drums & bass), produces, and mixes everything himself. He has been writing music since 10 years old and has been saving up every penny for his own studio since then.

He started seriously focusing on creating his first EP “Years of Gold” in 2017 after dropping out of college, but the foundation of the title track started back in 2015 when he was still in high school. This EP really covers the struggles of trying to find out who he really is, growing out of his childhood, and forcing himself to learn to become an adult, or at least act like one. This EP really captures his anxieties of his youth years wrapping up, his self proclaimed “Years of Gold”, while at the same time being eager of finding out what is to come next.
