Dawi & Friends is a versatile ensemble led by bassist & composer David Williams a.k.a Dawi. Dawi was born in Oakland Ca. & now lives in Chicago. Dawi has an extensive background as sideman & bandleader. He was bandleader & co-founder of the Internationally acclaimed "Armageddon Reggae Ensemble".Thier album "African Sweetness was co-produced by Grammy Award winners STEEL PULSE. As a sideman he has performed with Roy Ayers, Howard Hewitt, Gil Scott Herron,Monty Alexander,the Last Poets, Ed Thigpen, Julian Preister, Willie Pickens,Von Freeman,George Freeman,Jimmy Ellis,Steve Coleman, Jean-Paul Bourrelly,Walter Jackson, Fred Anderson,George Lewis,Carmen Bradford,Dee Alexander ,Corey Wilkes,Maggie Brown,ESP, Roscoe Mitchell, Kim Fields, Malcolm Jamal Warner,the AACM's Great Black Music Ensemble,..and many many others. Dawi has toured with Steel Pulse,Chuck Berry, Inner Circle, Earth,Wind & Fire, The Emotions, The Delphonics, Montell Jordan, Muta Baruka, LL Cool J, Pieces of a Dream,Third World, & Amiel Larieux, and many others.Dawi is CEO-Founder of the LMI INTERNATIONAL SOUND DESIGN CO.
