ABOUT DAWN AND HAWKES
"Well crafted songs with beautiful vocal harmonies. Great Texas Music!" (Bill Chambers)

“Miranda Dawn & Chris Hawkes both outstanding writers and performers in their own right, have teamed up to create a performance that multiplies their talents” (Daren Appelt)

“The two voices intertwine as if made to sing together” (Serenity Fisher)

"It feels like I'm eavesdropping on a private conversation that's too good to ignore" said one listener of Austin based duo Dawn and Hawkes. Their individual voices and passions come barreling together and ease into a dance of lyrical images and intertwining harmonies.

It seems fitting that these two singer-songwriters met while dancing together at a legendary Austin blues juke joint and later began co-writing and touring together.

Whether performing as an acoustic duo or full band, the individual character of their vocals amplify their well-crafted lyrics with a charming chemistry.

Dawn is a native Austinite, born to a musical father and surrounded by live music her whole life. With an ear full of melody and lyrics, she began songwriting at a young age and is now at the center of a songwriting group - SongWriterWeekly.com

In addition to his love for guitar, Hawkes discovered a deep interest in the recording process and began collaborating as a session musician and engineer. One of these first projects was heavily featured on commercial television and radio and launched his career as a record producer.

In 2011, each independently released solo albums: Chris Hawkes's “Broken Record” and Miranda Dawn's “Reason to Feel Alive”. In 2012 the duo began writing for their first combined effort “Golden Heart”.

ABOUT “GOLDEN HEART”
Released in June 2012, and written mostly while on tour, the Dawn & Hawkes debut EP captures the warm familiar feel of country roads, intoxicating night clubs and the sunsets in between. With songs that unwind through variations in genre and theme, the duo shows a familiar comfort at every twist and turn. This feeling comes, in-part, from recording and producing the tracks in the living room of their South Austin home.
