DAWN MITSCHELE
Dawn Mitschele (pronounced MITCH-LEE) was born and raised in New Jersey. Always a singer, she taught herself how to play guitar in high school. She then carried it along to college in New York and in Europe, gathering up all the life and love experiences that are now imbedded deep in her songs. It was at a concert performance by Ani DiFranco while she was living in Spain where Dawn decided that making music and sharing it with others would be her lifes work. After returning home from Europe, she moved to San Diego and was soon a part of that burgeoning scene that has produced Jewel and Jason Mraz.
Most people walk away from a concert having been mesmerized by her captivating vocals. She has been compared to Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Ray and Joni Mitchell, though she has a style all her own. She is not confined to one genre, and often explores folk, acoustic pop, Americana and blues sounds.
Her first album, In The Moonlight, features songs that will be heard on national TV shows in the coming months, including Kiss You on NBCs new Love Bites series. Her song In the Moonlight is featured in the Independent Feature Film, Liberal Arts, by Josh Radnor, and several of Dawns tunes were also featured recently on the Golf Channel's travel TV show, Golf Now.
Dawn has recently launched her own charitable endeavor to help the organic farming community in San Diego County. Beginning with a Farm to Table event, Dawn organized and promoted a recent event at a local organic farm, which will included performances by herself, and friend Jason Mraz.
Dawn keeps in touch with her fans through her enormously popular monthly LoVE Letter emails, which regularly include a new tune, some recent experiences and words of inspiration to everyone, encouraging them to chase their own dreams.
Dawn is dedicated to producing honest music founded in love and gratitude, and she hopes to carry this message to her listeners, especially during live shows. This summer, Dawn is off to Europe with a tour of festivals and clubs,, with a few living room performances at the homes of friends and fans.
