"Radio Single Released"

Nashville, TN -- Summer 2009. Dawn Nichols releases debut single to Southern Gospel and Christian Country radio stations across the U.S. The song, titled "Call To Me", a phrase taken from Jeremiah 33:3, encourages people to call on the Lord based on God's own promise that He will show them great and mighty things in return.

Dawn was able to drop by a local Nashville Station to talk about the song. She is obviously passionate about the message, saying "it is a message for our time". That interview, as well as the entire song, can be heard on this site via the Audio tab. - Embassy Music & Sterling Smith Management

Bio

Old coffee cans and pennies were the first set of drums Dawn Nichols used to express her early interest in music. It was evident at a young age that she had a special gift. This resourceful little girl soon realized that she could hear rhythms in machines and harmonies in nature. She tapped out beats and patterns on anything she touched.

Graduating from her make shift percussion set she moved on to real drum sets and guitars. Throughout her youth Dawn’s enthusiasm for music grew stronger as she discovered and developed her God given talents. It was only natural that she would spend her teenage years playing drums in garage and jazz bands. In college she began writing original songs and toured the country each year playing drums in a band that promoted the school.

It was during these formative years that Dawn was drawn to many genres of music. With an older sister in the house it was an easy introduction to the music of Carol King, James Taylor, Three Dog Night, Chicago and Linda Rondstadt. Later influences were Billy Joel, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Rich Mullins. Today she listens to such artists as Chris Tomlin, Rita Springer and Jason Upton. “I’ve always appreciated songs that sounded great, especially those that also really said something”, she fervently points out.

Dawn began her professional music career as a worship leader. She would blend traditional, contemporary and praise songs into each service to enrich the worship experience for everyone. She still likes taking an old hymn (“the lyrics are just too good to waste” says Dawn) giving it a new beat, or changing a chord here or there to present it with a fresh lift. As a music minister her focus is always on sincere worship from the heart. She passionately says “I want to be a real worshipper, like David was. Read the Psalms. He told it like it was in good times and bad, yet he never forgot that God was good, loving and just. He never failed to worship God for being God, because He really knew God”. Dawn’s ministry is genuine, interweaving songs, humor, and teaching to present The Word in truth and encourage worship from the heart.

“Call To Me”, the debut single from her latest project entitled “My Offering” (and written by Dawn Nichols) is being played by radio stations around the country. This album, the sophomore project following her first album “It’s Raining Fire”, is full of original material with driving rhythms, soothing melodies and ardent lyrics all written by Dawn. Her music is as sincere and earnest as her ministry.
