Discography

Our first single, “When I Fall” features an energetic Evanescence meets Jewel arrangement for its title track. Also included is the power ballad duet “Let Me Be The One”, and the epic stadium rock “Baby, Goodbye.”

We get streaming play on Soundclick.com and play in several Fubar.com radio lounges. Since the band, and this release, are so very new, we will be updating this with much more information as our exposure increases.

A full album is planned for release in fall 2008.

Bio

Dawn's Darkness was founded by singer-songwriter Jordana Kocher in September 2007. Her vision was to create a rock band that would perform great original tunes spanning many subgenres, ranging from radio-friendly pop-rock to epic, progressive pieces.

Her previous musical collaboration, Pheonix Rising, had a #1 hit in the popular Soundclick.com Pop/Rock charts out of about 13,000 songs. This song, "Don't Let Go", was played frequently on many Internet radio stations as well as terrestrial community radio stations, an FM station in the Chicago area. After this modest success, Jordana set her sights higher, intending to combine online music promotion with live performance in the Portland, Oregon area.

To this end, she assembled a crack team of experienced musicians with a wide assortment of backgrounds. Jordana herself provides lead female vocals in a style some people find reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan, Loreena Mckennitt, Missy Higgins and Amy Lee of Evanescence. She also plays keys, and enjoys adding piano and orchestral touches to the arrangements.

Since Jordana writes many male/female duets, she decided to share the spotlight with another lead vocalist -- Dors Ward, formerly lead singer and lyricist for Louisiana alt-rock band “Distant View.” Dors’ vocals, sometimes compared to Tony Kakko of Sonata Artica, Ed Kowalczyk of Live, and Reese Roper of Five Iron Frenzy, add a dramatic dimension to the music.

The project also features Erik Burch, songwriter, full time music student at Clark College and lead guitarist for several successful cover bands in California, Oregon and Washington. His wide knowledge of music theory and highly versatile style were invaluable in creating new, dynamic rock arrangements. Bass is performed by Roldan Robledo, who plays 8-string and 5-string with a heavy background in jazz performance. Completing the lineup is rock drummer Troy Panian, veteran of several Portland area bands.

Dawn’s Darkness has a goal of carving out a niche for themselves in indie music, both online and for live performance in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. They are committed to giving music lovers what they want. Their official web site, due for launch on New Year’s Day, has plans to feature high-quality, DRM-free song downloads with the pay-what-you-want for download business model.
