Daybreak Bio
Daybreak was formed in the summer of 2008. Forming a band, was talked about by singer, songwriter, and Guitarist Gary Free and drummer Matthew Pate in early 2008. The only problem was there were still missing pieces to the puzzle. They were in need of another guitarist and a bassist. At an Easter event held by Millbrook First Assembly of God at a local park in Millbrook, Alabama, Gary and Matthew played some of the songs Gary wrote for the first time ever to the public. But that same day, future bassist for the band Trent Moore and his family attended the Easter Event and through the event he started attending Millbrook First Assembly of God. It was not until later, in May of 2008 on a Sunday that Matthew asked Trent if he would be interested in learning how to play the bass, and Gary would show him a few chords. Unknowingly, that same Sunday, Trent’s brother Todd Moore (guitarist) attended the morning service and wanted to come that afternoon along with his brother to check out the music and all. They practiced a song Gary wrote called, “ Take Me Back” and performed the song that same day at the evening service. The band knew from then on that God had placed both Todd and Trent Moore at Millbrook First Assembly of God for a reason.
The name Daybreak comes from Mark 16:2 , “ And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the Tomb at the rising of the sun”. After several shows, the band in May of 2009 traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to perform at Rocketown for Band With A Mission(The place where Rush of Fools was founded). The band received a 6 out of 10 overall as a band. The band decided to go into the studio in August of 2009 to work on the their first CD. In December 2009 the band’s hit single, “ Chains of Shame” received air play on 101.5 fm The River in Montgomery, Alabama and 97.5 fm in Troy ,Alabama. The song is now on national charts and is played daily on the station‘s two channels. The band completed the CD consisting of 4 tracks in January 2010. God has opened many doors for the band and they believe God will continue to open new doors. Daybreak is a Christian Rock band, which uses the songs and the music God has placed on their hearts to spread the message and love of Jesus Christ, so that people will come to know the Lord as their Savior.
