Bio

Birthed within the confines of Corporate America in an upstairs office begging for some daylight of its own, the idea of what Daylight West would be began.

The idea was simple: songs written from the heart, brutally honest, about the journey lead singer Jared Berry had been on the last few years of his life. He poured out his heart to his friend Adam as he encouraged him to lay it all out. Holding nothing back he allowed himself to be totally vulnerable. Sharing every emotion Jared was feeling about his life, his relationships, his career direction, his heartaches, and his frustrations in nearly every detail he could bear to reveal. It was hard, it was uncomfortable, but it was necessary. If he was going to sing his lungs out on stage, they would have to be words of truth.

Jared had to come clean and he had to believe that he wasn’t the only one that felt the way he did. Therapy? You better believe it.

As the songs unfolded Jared and his buddies Mike (bassist/nearly every instrument you can imagine), Russell (drummer/plays every other instrument a rock band could need and records and produces local bands), and Eugene (guitar/insert other band mates description here) got together and started practicing them. Mike and Russell were friends of Jared and have practically been raised on the road touring in bands. Jared toured and recorded all over the world from Joshua Tree, California to Taiwan. Music has always been his life, even when it wasn’t his job. He had worked with Eugene on all kinds of other projects in the past trying to “make it” if you will…but then again, he had never put as much of myself into music as this. As the songs unraveled in the studio, he knew he had something special, something he believed to be different. The different styles came out and all lent to the songs something more than he could have ever expected. It was raw and simple. No over tracking, overdubbing upon overdubbing, no crazy editing. Jared and the guys wanted the music to sound and be as honest as the lyrics were.

What was on the recorded tracks had to be playable and near perfectly recreated live.

Now Daylight West is here, on the crest of what they believe to be something beautiful. Love, sorrow, breakdowns, break-through, loneliness, resolution…Jared's life, the last few years set to melody.
