Even in the 21st Century, hard rock is still seen as a man’s game. The top hard rock acts, such as Aerosmith and Metallica, are all composed of entirely male line-ups. However, in Los Angeles, known as the breeding ground for the greatest rock acts (and musical acts in general), there is a new generation of female rock musicians emerging.

One such band is the three-piece all-female act, Daymes Rocket. The band has debuted around venues on the Sunset Strip, which was once the launchpad for acts such as Motley Crue and Guns ‘N Roses. Fronted by lead vocalist, guitar player and songwriter, Erika Welton, the band plays raw, lively and tightly written original pop-rock. With a black jacket, face glitter, tall boots and a tight skirt, Erika merges her feminine and edgy sides.

In an era when technology can take care of so much of the musical process, it is rare to find a rock band that has true musical chops. But there is no autotune or pre-recorded tracks in this act. Erika’s powerful, polished alto vocals carry over Heather Miller’s slamming drumming and Clarissa Balere’s grooving bass lines. There is no producer to help guide the music; these songs are solely the brainchild of the three girls in the band.

Daymes Rocket was formed in 2007 when Erika saw Clarissa jumping up and down at a concert for The Drills, a local band. Erika started dancing, too, and soon the two struck up a conversation. They later recruited Heather, who was sitting at a table next to them at Frankie and Johnnie’s, a local Sunset Strip pizza joint.

Since then, they have gone onto play shows around Los Angeles and Las Vegas and produce an album.

Although Erika and her band mates are very talented and committed to their art, Erika says that in the end she plays rock not because she wants to prove how talented she is but because she wants to have a good time and share the fun with everyone around her.

On a broader scale, Erika hopes to bring rock music back into the mainstream.

Daymes Rocket will be performing November 12, 2009 at "The Joint" in Los Angeles

We are an all girl rock band from both the east coast and west coast. We have been together for a year and a half and have played the whole Sunset Strip and Las Vegas. Our fanbase is growing and every show we play the bookers always call and want us to come back because we put on a great show and the crowd loves us! Our sound is a modern rock sound that is influenced by Motley Crue, GnR, Aerosmith, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, Foo Fightes, and Veruca Salt.

What sets Daymes Rocket apart from other bands is that we are all girls who are great musicians with talent. All us have studied our craft and we write songs that are very catchy(the crowd can sing a long)/emotional and are not dated. We also put up on a great show!
