Bio
Days After Hail is a group of musicians who’s sound comes from a diverse background. There name is a metaphor for life and also an environmental phenomenon. The origin of the name and the band began in 2003 when three of the five members of a popular Las Vegas underground punk band (Biznut) saw the band coming to an end. John, Danny, & Matt decided that there dreams would not die with the broken band. They realized that Biznut’s instability and tendencies toward unproductive activities could not bring the success they desired.
The weather at the last Biznut show seemed like a normal calm Las Vegas September evening, but there was a feeling of static in the air, as if the show would end in chaos. Technical sound difficulties led to the last fight of Biznut. That night as the founding members of Days After Hail packed up there gear, the once calm sky began to storm. They looked at the sky to judge what time they had remaining to finish loading. They expected a cool sprinkle of rain; instead they were greeted with shards of ice falling from the warm Las Vegas sky. The car ride home inspired an interesting conversation about what they would do now that two of the members would not be coming back to practice.
Soon they decided to reform and build a new sound that was not only influenced by punk but could also find a home in deep south blues, heavy metal rock, smooth reggae, and jazz cool enough to calm the most volcanic souls. During the creation of the new set list the members of Days After Hail reflected on there experiences in the last year when all they could see the was darkness of losing band mates and friends to drugs and imprisonment. Days After Hail is still dreaming of catching a glimpse of the sun…and pushing the boundaries of music… these are the Days After Hail.
