Daytime Theft

Daytime Theft

BandRockFunk

Daytime Theft is unique and has no direct competition. The band's funk-pop-rock style is edgy, upbeat, danceable, and radio-friendly. The culmination of drums, guitar, bass, and saxophone, differentiates its sound from conventional pop music. The band is in the finals for Guitar Wars 2009.

Biography

Daytime Theft's music is influenced by various artists from the genres of funk, Motown, jazz, classic rock, and soul, creating a Funk/Rock/Pop fusion. All of their original songs are innovative pieces with catchy riffs, making them very radio-friendly. No Daytime Theft song can be simply classified as ‘rock’, since all of them involve a fusion of different styles, ranging from funk to Latin music. The addition of a saxophone as a lead instrument also gives their sound something quite unique from many other artists. The band had its start when Daniella Watters and Noah Siegel began writing together in the summer of 2008 and ultimately decided to turn the jam sessions into a full-fledged band by February of 2009. Auditions were held and the two of them searched until they found all of the members needed to complete their sound. Since the recording of their demo tracks, Daytime Theft has completed the shooting of their first music video and has performed at various venues all around the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

Lyrics

Do It For Love

Written By: Daniella Watters

Verse 1:

I don’t create to impress the nation
Because it gives me a sense of elation
A sensation of creativity
Speeds my brain wave activity
Gives me a body thrill
Throws my spine in a chill
Turns me on and gets me off
I like it when my music’s rough

I write to express emotion
To start some crazy commotion
Between my mind, body, and soul
A catharsis that makes me whole

Chorus:

Do it for love
Not because you should
Flying above
Like I knew I would
I am free of
A 9 to 5
Do it for love
Makes my soul alive

Verse 2:

Music is the shit
It can throw you in a fit
It can mellow you out
It’s all good no doubt
Use it to express
Don’t have to impress
Just feel inspired
And it will never expire

Music is my medicine
I tried it and I’m dependent
There’s no cure to my addiction
I keep refilling my prescription

Chorus:

Do it for love
Not because you should
Flying above
Like I knew I would
I am free of
A 9 to 5
Do it for love
Makes my soul alive

Bridge:

Do it for love x 8

Chorus x 2

Like a Magnet

Written By: Daniella Watters

Verse 1:

You’re like a magnet
Cause I gravitate towards you
I cannot move
Cause I get pulled right back

You’re like a drug
I just can’t say no to
You’ve got me hooked
And there’s no turning back

Pre-Chorus:
Come on, come on, come on, get closer x3

Chorus x2:
You’re in my mind
All in my head
You’re in my dreams
That’s what I said

Verse 2:
You’ve pulled me in and
It seems you’re stuck too
You’re clinging on and I’m pulling fast
I need some peace, so just leave me alone
I guess you’re hooked on my pheromones

Pre-Chorus:
Come on, come on, come on, give me space x3

Chorus x2
Stay in my mind
Stay in my head
Don’t leave my dreams
Ya that’s what I said

Bridge:
You were so addicting
I just couldn’t get enough
But now that you’re clinging
You’re way too much

Chorus x2:
Get out of my mind
Get out of my head
Get out of my dreams
Ya that’s what I said

Verse 3:
You’re like a magnet
I just can’t seem to repel you
You just won’t move
And I keep pulling back

I’m like a drug
You can’t seem to get off of
I got you hooked
And you’re too attached

Pre-Chorus:
Come on, come on, come on, back off now x3

Chorus x2

Watch Your Mouth (Words)

Written By: Daniella Watters

Verse 1:

Keep your presumptions to yourself
Take yours hands and cover up your mouth
Don’t care to hear what you think
Let the voices tremble and sink … deeper
Oh…

Keep your harmful thoughts closed
Let your mind’s goodness be exposed
Don’t want to hear evil treachery
Make your noise heard peacefully

Chorus:

Words, words, words,
What are they all about?
Hurting, loving, saying
Watch the words of your mouth
Words, words, words
What are they selling?
Can’t tell what they are telling
Why don’t you speak a little clearer?

Verse 2:

When you speak evilly
You’re words travel right through me
I won’t let a harsh voice cut my skin
Take it back cuz I won’t let it in
Ohhh….

Chorus:

Words, words, words,
What are they all about?
Hurting, loving, saying
Watch the words of your mouth
Words, words, words
What are the selling?
Can’t tell what they are telling
Why don’t you speak a little clearer?

Bridge:
My words can hurt
His words will sting
Your words assert
Are you listening?

Your words can hurt
Her words can sting
My words assert

Do you feel a thing?

Chorus:

Words, words, words,
What are they all about?
Hurting, loving, saying
Watch the words of your mouth
Words, words, words
What are the selling?
Can’t tell what they are telling
Why don’t you speak a little clearer?
