D.Blake, of Charlotte, NC, is an up and coming R&B superstar. The development of his gifted talents and unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a talented musical family, Derrick Blakeney a.k.a. D.Blake, was surrounded by music, instruments, and a wide array of talented family members. He discovered his own talent while singing in church at age 8.
With his first single, “My First Love” produced by the great Jimmy Brown, D.Blake has been blazing the stages of many venues in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. Using the influences from the sounds of Donnie Hathaway, John P. Kee, Sam Cooke, and Michael Jackson, he has an ear for music and enjoys writing his own lyrics. He is noted for his sharp demeanor, humility, and impressive work ethic. With the support of Blake Ent and the city of Charlotte, his popularity has grown, but this is just the beginning. As the winner of This Is It Bet Blaze the Stage, he represented Charlotte, NC well on BET’s 106&PARK W.O.W. competition, bringing a great victory back to the Queen City. He will be returning to New York City later this summer to grace BET’s stage once again, where he is sure to steal the hearts’ of America’s music lovers during the All-Star competition.
