Bio
Meet Austin Texas’ undiscovered treasure, singer/songwriter DB Martin.
DB Martin is a native Texan, who was raised since early childhood in the Midwest, namely, South Bend Indiana. Coming from a large family, there were no other “musicians” but there was a lot of music to listen to and influence DB. From what is now considered classic rock to classic R&B to 70’s love songs and, of course the Beatles, growing up DB heard it all.
Having grown up in a time where real music was being created without the assistance of the “digital age” DB has created a sound that melds his influences with his modern day life and formulated a return to the real music ethic. His music has been described as Hip Modern Blues. Artist wise, DB often gets compared to Elton John, Steely Dan and Billy Joel. This is a discipline that DB has a natural command of. One cannot help but notice the soulful and timeless quality of DB’s songs. Clearly evident on his debut CD Miracle Man.
Although quiet and reserved, a completely different side of DB emerges when he performs his music. Factor in guitarist Jason James’ tasteful contribution, reminiscent of Steve Lukather (Toto) or Walter Becker (Steely Dan) and the sax of entertainment royalty, Paul Klemperer (Otto Klemperer, Werner Klemperer), the unrelentingly solid drums of Rick Hall and the amazing and the energetic and professional contributions of newcomers Matt Powers and Jimmy Young on bass and guitar , a kind of magic takes place that melds current originality with the classiness of yesterdays music. Real, genuine, sincere and even romantic.
