"Dc Flyz Stamped And Seald"

HHO: Introduce yourself to the fans

DC Flyz: What’s Craccin World! This is the one and only DC Flyz A.K.A CrankEmUp. Don’t doubt what I can make happen…

HHO: How did your artist name come about?

DC Flyz: Normally when people ask me my normal reply is “Cuz I’m the shit bitch!” LMAO! But Big Shaad of 86 America Music gave me my name. It started off as a joke, running around as a kid everyone called me Fly and that’s when I use to listen to Plies non stop, day and night. So one thing led to another and I took off with it, added my little twist of course to let people know I’m a D.C native and D.C Flyz was stamped and sealed!

HHO: Where are you from?

DC Flyz: Born in D.C, although I have spent a lot of time back and forth from Florida, North and South Carolina, and even out in the Mid West in Wisconsin, but I will always rep my city Washington, D.C.!

HHO: Who were your musical influences growing up?

DC Flyz: My musical influnces growing up FIrst and foremost My DAD!!! then after are Jay-z and Yo Gotti. Yo Gotti was so underrated coming in the game and has always been the proof of patience and steady grind have the doubters doubting why they ever doubting me in the first place. Can’t Forget about Snoop Dogg, T.i and Master P all great artist and business men.

HHO: What hip-hop albums did you grow up listening to?

DC Flyz: I can remember riding around with my dad in his all black station wagon, he had these mean ass speakers that was set up in the back, and he used to blast everything from Kanye West “College Dropout” to Jay-z’s “Blueprint.” Can’t forget about Outkast “Stankonia.” Everybody who was releasing music back then that had bars… we listened to it! Wait… and to top it off Jay-z’s “The Black Album” was on repeat!

HHO: What is the current single/project that you are promoting?

DC Flyz: I’m currently promoting my E.P I dropped in 2017, “Self Made,” which we are now just getting off of the ground due to some legal issues I was dealing with. One thing I can say I’ve learned is patience and the wait was beyond worth waiting for. We just released the video for “Idk Why” shot and directed by HoodRoach TV, which you all can watch right now on Vevo and YouTube. I also just released a new single “On My Own” available in every digital store in the world.

HHO: How did the record come about?

DC Flyz: All of my music depicts events from real life stories and situations I deal with and dealt with, trying to get to my goal in life. No matter if its family issues, finding a way to feed my children. It was a mixture of the feelings and emotions I had at that moment when I picked up my pen and my pad. Its what flowed and it all came out on to some dope beats and into now my music is my project.

HHO: What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?

DC Flyz: My dream collab would be with Yo Gotti & T.I on a 808 Mafia Beat no questions.

HHO: Are you currently touring or have any upcoming shows?

DC Flyz: I am going on Tour starting in July First City is Miami then we are heading over to North Carolina For more information you can search the dates on my website

HHO: How is the response from your fans & djs been?

DC Flyz: The responses to my music amazes me sometimes. When it comes to the fans reacting to me when I’m on stage performing, or the Dj’s at parties spinning my music with crazy drop… I mean my music can sell itself when put in the right hands and we growing and I love the feeling.

HHO: What artists do you listen to the most?

DC Flyz: I listen to everyone! Other than the mumble rappers…NO NAMES NEEDED, but I listen to everyone that’s on a grind, you can’t count anyone out in this game. But if I had to say who I listen to the most it would be ME!

HHO: What are your plans for 2018? What are you doing that others are not?

DC Flyz: My plans for 2018 and every year after is to WIN… DUH!!!!!! Worrying about me and getting for mines. You will never hear me complaining and barely see me sleeping, I’ll sleep once I get to where I’m going!

HHO: How can your fans reach you?

DC Flyz: My fans can reach me on Twitter and Instagram @IAMFLYZ. You can also check out my website for all new updates, show & tour dates, and releases at www.iamflyz.com

WE still have work to do and of course shouts out to you, the listeners, the readers, the supporters, the fans, and doubters cause without you’ll this wouldn’t be possible.. - HipHop OverLoad

"Dc Flyz Interview"

Dc Flyz is an American Rapper and recording artist. Although he was born in Washington D.C. Flyz spent a lot of time his time between Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and even Wisconsin. Even with odds stacked against him, deep within he knew he would rise above his circumstances and without excuse play the hand he had been dealt. With numerous projects under his belt, he is best known for “Gotta Grind” (2009), “From Da South” (2009), “Flexxin” (2012) and successful mixtape “Double Up” (2013). Make sure to check out his newest project “On My Own ft. Boone.”

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough..then tell us more!!

Energetic, passionate, and life

When you are writing a song, where do you draw inspiration from? Or what topics do you like to write or sing about?

All my music comes from true stories and situations I deal with, dealing with, or dealt with trying to get to my goal in life. No matter if its family issues or finding a way to feed my children. Whatever words come to mind when I pick up my pen and my pad is what flows, and it all comes out as this story, that has turned into actual music and now projects.

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?

BALLIN!! I hit the court, catch up on my sports. Of course being a D.C native, depending on the season got to make sure I catch a Wizards game and support my Redskins. Spend time with my kids and love all over them, before it's time to get back to the grind!

If you were to create your favorite playlist of other artists music, what would your top 3 songs be? And, what artists have influenced your music the most?..

Can't Live Without You - Pretty Ricky, Yo Gotti - Loco, and Lucifer - Jay-z. Yo Gotti, such an underrated artist coming in the game and as always the proof that patience and steady grind will outshine the doubters. Snoop Dogg, T.I, and Master P. All great influences and businessmen.

Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it? Emotional doesn't have to mean sad etc., it can be a high energy too...(sad, happy, angry, fear, etc.)

I would have to say IV Everything featuring Marley. This track means more to me now than it probably did when I made it. It samples my grandma's voice, who passed away and who meant the world to me in such a way words really cannot describe and talks about all of my pain and my vulnerabilities. Not to mention my Brodie was on this piece and he too is no longer me. I can't even share the success with him or her, but I know and feel that in some way they are right here with me every time I pick up a pen or step in a studio.

What is your dream gig? Is there a gig that you really want that would be the ultimate show for you?

The ultimate gig would be a collaboration with Yo Gotti and T.I on an 808 Mafia beat performed at every award show there is starting with BET.

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

Yes always! Working on my album that is scheduled to be released by October, more touring, shows, and videos. You name it I want in! The goal is to always #WIN and so the work will never end!

Tell us where fans can access your music.

My fans can reach me on Twitter and Instagram @IAMFLYZ. You can also check out my website for all new updates and releases at www.iamflyz.com!

"Website Feature"

Rapper DC Flyz was born Melvin E. Key Jr. on August 6, 1991, in Washington, DC. Raised by his father and grandmother, the cards were seemingly stacked against him. Yet, deep within he knew he would rise above his circumstances and without excuse play the hand he had been dealt.

The golden years of 2005 – 2007 served to widen the distance between the gloom of his past life and the life he had always desired. As a student at Camden Military Academy (South Carolina) DC Flyz was on a course destined for greatness. He was introduced to the world of sports—lacrosse, wrestling, soccer and varsity basketball. His love of “the beat” led him to the drumline where he earned his ‘cred’ as a fierce drummer. All seemed right in his world until a series of bad choices kicked off a downward spiral leading to his removal from the academy.

Living the lyrics he raps, “Pain don’t last forever...keep fighting for what you believe in.”—he fought onward and with the help of his loving grandmother, he finally earned his high school diploma and continued his academic pursuits enrolling in two community colleges—in Florida and later in Baltimore. In the midst of the numerous starts, stops, and relocations one thing that remained constant was his acceptance onto the basketball roster.

Today, his musical roster is a reflection of the grit, the grind, and the goals that fuel his rap career. The discipline he learned from his years at Campden Military Academy has earned him a feature on several mixtapes with Mr. Dj Sneakydog, CEO, and Owner of Sneakydog Inc. He has opened for celebrity Hip-Hop artists such as Mr. Cheeks of the Lost Boyz, AR-Ab, Dark Lo and King of Philly Gillie Da Kid and has headlined several events.

Look for his new album this summer (2018). DC Flyz is signed to his own label, CrankemUp Nation, which he released in 2017 and is currently in production shooting the video for the well-received “IDK Why” from his E.P. entitled “Self-Made”—available in all digital stores. In 2016 DC Flyz released his self-titled mixtape, “#DC”, hosted by DJ Sneakydog along with 24K Mixtapes CEO DJ Pop Dukes. This mixtape has been an excellent portrayal of his growth as an artist with an ability to attract a large following both online and with live performances.

Since he started rapping at the age of 16, DC Flyz has produced music in rapid succession. DC Flyz continues to exude the strength, perseverance, and discipline that will undoubtedly support his climb up the Hip-Hop rap charts. - Karben Main Stage
